Master Game was the best ever chess seen on TV. Brilliant games
with Kaprov, Miles, Larson etc explaining their ideas and moves.
BBC do not have any copies but one guy taped them on Betamax.
He sent them to me - I at the request of John.B. Henderson sent
them to him in the USA to get them put onto DVD.
("We sailed in the Sloop John B" - henc ...[text shortened]... would come forth with a contact.
So far nothing.
I'll keep you up to date if you wish.
What was the dialogue over these weeks?
He saying that progress being made or was he just stringing you along?

I guess you know how the librarians feel now.
(Much of the advice posted in Viz is not really intended for people to actually follow.)
Posting betamax to America? It'll require standards conversion (from PAL to NTSC) even if they do have a Betamax player somewhere in area 51.
If you know all the details of the BBC programme you're looking for I can make a couple of inquiries as the vault where it's all kept is
down the road from me: TX Date, Title etc.
If it does exist then it may be on the old 1 inch or 2 inch reel tape ...and transfer would set someone back a few quid...but it'd be nice to know if they have it.

Have to add not pulled this stunt (yet) 😉
but did take out Larsen Best games in 1972/73 and never returned it
from an Army Library.
Re: contatc with Sloop.
I did not ask about the tapes. I thought I'd give him some time -
then when I did bring them up in March I have heard nothing back since.
Completely nothing at all.
The original owner has now calmed down, he can see I've not pulled
a trick on him and he to is now confused as I am.
Sure it will all work out in the end, usually does
Re:BBC Master Chess Game series.
I believe other have made enquiries and BBc say they have no copies.
Think Viz tips are perfectly sound.
