The combination was pretty, the problem with posting it before the game is over is that we now have two pages of flaming about whether anyone is ever justified in posting an in progress game rather than talking about the actual combination (we couldn't) or posting their own examples.
Originally posted by TommyCI agree. I lost any enjoyment that I might have had for the combo debating with these nuckleheads over whether or not the game should have been posted in the first place.

I find it fascinating that some one named "Skeeter" wants to debate the point at all.
No offence, but when he posted it, I dont think LordOfTheChessboard intended on arousing you guys. And it was forced mate...therefore, what comments could you have made...I suppose if he did make a mistake, we all know the rules, and therefore, we would not comment on the game. (what if we didnt notice the game was over?) Well if we actually spent the time analize the game to see that there was a mistake, i am sure that we would also notice that the game was still in progress. Which at that time we would say...this game is still in progress, we cant make a comment, and no one would say anything...Now back on topic, there was no mistake in this case...and a lot of you are being really stubborn about where you stand on this, lets open up the box, stop being so closed minded and think, if you dont like the fact that he posted a game that was a move or two away from finishing, but was forced mate, and he was just asking you to check out the game, lets not be so cranky, and just say, well done, good game...bad play from your opponent lol...Finally. You guys all act as if your insulted, as you say that his opponent may be insulted, well his opponent is a long time member, and if he was hurt by the fact that the game was posted in the forums, he would have commented on it, and if he doesnt ever come into the forums, so be it, games done, lets move on. Stop fighting ghosts.

Show me your analysis of how you are going to prevent mate please, im interested.
I never discussed the game in progress (but I would have) as you know you need at least 2 people to be able to discuss anything.
Dont post here if you dont want to discuss the game - (imaginary) problem solved.
13. exf5 d5
Unfortunately that does appear to lead to a forced mate in about 18 moves.
So, it appears the better answer is:
12...Bf2+
13. Kxf2 Q-e8
In any event, I will post here and discuss whatever I want. And, if you had been willing to wait a half an hour and post the game when it was correct to do so, you would not have run into this storm.

"I will post here and discuss whatever I want"
Yes I do the same, but the difference between us is that I don't tell others what to do.
Originally posted by DeepThoughtI completely agree with you, im glad we understand each other. Unfortuately I did not know the people of RHP would respond in this manner to my game.

Originally posted by LordOfTheChessboardThis is exactly why we don't post games until they are over, because fxg6 very well may lose to fxg5+ !!

Had I made those comments while the game was ongoing and had your opponent followed the advice; it would now be you CRYING that the rules had been broken.
You have told me what to do. You've told me not to post here unless, I will only comment on your game.
I and others have also told you and others not to comment on games in progress. Apparently the Mods agree, because they deleted your initial post.
You may want to put the game link back up if you expect anyone to find the game.

Originally posted by BigDoggProblemThe question was, was there a forced mate? The forced mate was an argument used for justifying posting the game for comment before it was finished. Nxg6 forces the Queen sacrifice and is winning, but it does not force an immediate mate..
According to Fritz 9, LotC's combo is completely winning. Even in the line you gave:
[fen]r1bq1r1k/ppp3p1/3p1pp1/2b1pPBn/2B1P2N/3P4/PPP3PP/R2QK2R b KQ - 0 12[/fen]
12...Bf2+ 13.Kxf2 Qe8? just runs into 14.Nxg6+ and Black must give up his Q to avoid mate.
In the follow up, Lord of the Chess Board played fxg6? instead of Nxg6! fxg6, while not losing, seems to at least bring the game back to something approximating equality.
Originally posted by Red NightHe typed exg6, which is ambiguous.

Forced mate or not, games in progress should not be commented on, nor posted to forums.
