i have to say, being a 1550 and just now coming to grips with the term space advantage is humorous...
but that's besides the point...
space advantage is not a huge advantage that should be celebrated...
look at the following line:
1. d4 Nf6
2. c4 g6
3. Nc3 Bg7
4. e4 0-0 (or d6, or e6, or some other move involving a pawn push on the queenside.. ...[text shortened]... e completely suffocated on these back files and resigned due to lack of any constructive move!

i'm entirely unfamiliar with this line...
in your post about black's initiative but still playable for both sides...
does hat make it weak for white?
with the aid of modern computer analysis, has it been refuted yet?
1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 a6 4. Ba4 Nf6 5. O-O Be7

White to move.

i must've gotten the wrong opening name...

A couple of years ago an amateur chess player came up with the move 18...bxa4! here (18...f5 was previously the most popular) and a lot of people said this line was refuted for white - I'm not sure how it is now, but white can deviate earlier if he chooses.
In any case, there are approximately equal chances for both sides, but black is going to be attacking while white has to defend in exchange for a pawn. It's playable for both sides, otherwise you wouldn't be seeing it played at the top level.
Common Marshall Attack Position:
White to move.
