I don't mind playing a computer, I just do not want to face one in n human tournament, and I want to know it.
not knowing you are playing agaisn't fritz, is not something fun....
ANd one question
Do we need to ban someone each years, @because they are cheating @. ? Hence, this would prouve the goodness of the moderation team. But the problems, is thqat, if we need to ban a cheater, what do they do, when their is no cheater ?
The post that was quoted here has been removedWhy are you still accusing people? Chess players can improve over time. Games like Game 4626109 & Game 4593476 show that even you have improved since joining the site. Improvement shouldn't be criticized. No one's perfect
Chill people. There is a huge difference between OTB - over the damn board and CC chess. First off, it took me quite some games before adjusting to the interface, the whole board and pieces, etc. Second, any real life distraction is fatal to CC chess. My daughter wants help with her homework and I lose the idea, my wife wants dinner, bread, groceries, and I forget why that game so important, my dog needs a walk and I miss a mate. OTB is different, four hours of non-stop action, full focus.
Second, everyone, including me and yes, even 2400 rated ones, play brilliant games such as Game 6872408 and Game 6923764 or Game 6923765 where Swiss (cheese) Gambit here plays like a 1400 or where he completely misses a simple tactic. AND we all play like total crap such as Game 6836511 or Game 6834599.
Check out Game 6008058, run and engine with it and you'll notice that both players make horrible mistakes, or take Game 4885038 - one of the first ever played on the site by Dan, also wild. That's what adjustment is, making time and space for CC. I'm sure some of you pathetic losers will still not see any relevance in this, but the less games you play on-line, the more focused you can become, the more time you have per game, the better the results. It's sad to see a person you know being dragged through the mus by the likes of people like you.
Originally posted by robbie carrobieI've beaten several engines, some consistently. However, I searched long and hard for some freeware engines that were weak enough for me. Several years ago I beat Hagrid on a regular basis. I cannot recall if it was a Winboard or UCI engine. I played it in Arena. Killer Queen was even weaker.
Hi Wulgbr, some of the programs i played did not allow it, and even then it was hopeless! there are methods for beating the things, and some players have it down to an art form. My only win was against the Linux based GNU chess, which is fairly strong by comparison, a kings Indian attack, it sticks out, for it was the only one. I never ever won a ...[text shortened]... a little Java based program called supreme chess, which isn't very strong, but still wupps me.
From set-positions out of books like Reinfeld's, I can beat the strongest engines, sometimes without takebacks.
The post that was quoted here has been removedIndeed. The point is that a 1000 player lacks certain basics that can be learned easily. A 1700 understands these basics, but lacks the depth of strategic understanding and tactical mastery that characterizes players at the 2400 level.
OTOH, Bobby Fisher made the jump from 1700 to 2400 in a short period of time (when he was 12 years old, or thereabout). Adults don't make this jump.
