The post that was quoted here has been removedYou can parrot the party line all you want, but people who are concerned about cheating on this site have been exposing cheats in the forums since before you were even a member. And if they hadn't been, we wouldn't even have had a Game Mod system.
If Russ and Chris NOW don't want to listen to the concerns of the non-cheating community, that's up to them. I'm hardly the only one dissatisfied with the "Fair Play Ticket" system and many suggestions for detecting and punishing cheats have been made in the Forums, but lately they have all been ignored as far as anyone can tell.

Naming names in the forums in the past has led to quite a few bannings. You'd know this if you had ever took any interest in the debates regarding cheat detection and punishment.
My concern is what if a player is named and they are actually not a cheater? What then? This can open a huge can of worms, all it takes is for one person to walk on and say ".......... uses an engine"
As for suggestions for improving detection can someone link to a thread please (i cant see any from recently maybe i'm looking in the wrong place)

and a certain amount of accusations are to be expected anyway for every high rated player, it comes with the territory when the game is played over internet and you can't actually see the other guy. when it's baseless, it's all pretty easy to just shrug off.
I'm sure all higher rated players would swap the 'policy of silence' with getting rid of the blatant offenders in a heartbeat.
Originally posted by wormwoodWhen the Game Mod system was in effect, when we knew who the Game Mods were and could contact them and we had the list of banned players and could see that cheaters were being regularly banned, there was a lot less public accusation and/or insinuation. There were still too many cheats , but at least there was an observable reality that something was being done.

With the secret system now in place, what players see is that some very obvious cheaters are rapidly rising up the player tables. Of course that is going to lead to dissatisfaction with the "system" (such as it is).
