This is another similiar thread to the RHP against chessmaster 10th edition. This is Fritz 9 and it is a much stronger one. You will have one day to make your votes on moves. RHP plays white . If two moves have the same vote , then I at the end will vote to change it but if I vote something dfferent then we will extend voting time by 1 day . If voting still remains same amount for multiple moves , then by my coin toss , will the move be judged (although this is unfair) .
voting begins now . Note : I will not send any reminders on this thread for people to vote. Note : I will give the computer 30 minutes at maximum to think on a move.Otherwise , it will forcefully play a move.
I vote for 1.e4
Having said that, we do need to get Fritz out of its opening's book as soon as possible, so maybe we could play some 'strange' moves like 2.a3 to try and do this.
but I think 1.e4 will give us an interesting game.
PS. Can I make a suggestion? Is it possible that SicilianNajdorf could use a display board (paste the board from FEN) so we can see the board and keep track of the position?
That would make life so much easier.
Thank you.
Skims.

1. e4 is a sound move, and sharp.
Just take Ironman31 as an example. He's played and won most of his games with White starting with e4. That is to say, he's drawn very few games. He can't be wrong in his selection.
Yes, e4 is a perfectly logical opening. But not against a computer! We have to adjust our playing style to beat a computer. We can't play normally, and expect to last even 20 moves!
And your assertion that Ironman can't be wrong in his choice is rediculous. Despite the fact that I've lost all respect for him, everyone has their preferences. No one common opening is objectively signifigantly better than another, especially at this level. Just because the best "player" on this site uses it, doesn't mean it's the best opening. Many grandmaster who play at a level well beyond Ironman choose different openings than e4. He won most of his games because he cheated. And even if that weren't the case, it's not because of his opening, but his level of play.
You say that he's drawn very few games. That's a bad thing. If you claim that Ironman's play is entirely defined by e4, and he draws few games, then e4 should be our last choice. I hate to break it to you, but if you had any knowledge of modern computer chess, you'd know we'd be playing for a draw. And even in that goal, we probably stand less than a 1 percent chance. We're almost definetely going to lose, but we may as well do intelligent things.
I give up on you guys. If you can't even make an intelligent decision regarding our opening move, I can't imagine dealing with you later in the game. I'm not usually rude, but you all fail to listen to any reason. It's rediculous.
The logic behind a3 is that we can transpose into a black opening a tempo up, and take the computer out of its book. But I can see why you question it. However, to play one of the worst moves we could against a computer, e4, is just plain stupid.
