I still think the rule is going to cause problems later. For example what if someone suggests a plan and we vote for it and then someone finds an improvement. We clearly need a cut off, and in the opening it makes sense to just plain get on with it as we are arguing about what established book line to follow, but later we are going to have to find a consensus over planning and tactical implementation. I've not been in one of these group games before - how is it to be managed? We'll need to seperate discussion time and voting time. Also I think if a move is 100% forced - as in only legal possibility - SicilianNajdorf should just get on with it and make the move.
Oh btw. someone's voted for e4, which I think is an outright blunder but even so this makes it:
Nc3 (7)
e4 (1)
The new rule is going to be cancelled becuase "Patience is a virtue" and only an idiot can't wait for one day . I think 6.e4 is a fundamental blunder and need not be added to the voting list . Like I said , dumb moves , like sacrificing a queen for no reason do not get added , this guy wanted to gambit a pawn , but had no reason hence it is not being added to the voting list .
8 for 6.Nc3
50 minutes remaining before the move , 6.Nc3 is submitted to CHESS.
I said it if they had a reason , but he has no reason and simply says " I vote 6.e4" , what sort of swindle is he runnin' here ? This game is to discuss our opinion , so I would gladly add a queen sacrifice to our voting list if he said why but he just said 6.e4 , it just allows him to take the pawn , has he gone mad or is it a blunder ?
12 minutes remaining before the move , 6.Nc3 is submitted to CHESS.
Fritz's last move is given in a footnote in MCO, the line given is:
6. ... Nf6 7. f3 e5 8. dxe5 Nd7 9. e6 fxe6 10. e4 +/= Schlenga-Knippel, Bundesliga 1989:
Since Fritz has chosen about the only line which is assessed in MCO as giving us an edge I suggest 7. f3. I'm not voting for it quite yet as I want to see if anyone can suggest something else.
I also vote for 7. f3 (3). Only drawback is that it doesn't develop a piece and our king bishop is still locked in. We might want to discus when we differ from the opening book. However if CHESS sticks with this line we look fine. 7. Bf4 or 7. Bg5 doesn't do much for us. So 7. f3 it is.
