I think it would be fun to have a site-wide contest for the most brilliant move. 🙂
Post games which you played, and made (in your mind) a brilliant, and unexpected move. The kind that'd earn you a double exclaimation point. For every game you post, point out the move that you're entering. The entire game will not be considered, only the move pointed ...[text shortened]... ting, only consider the move pointed out, and not the rest of the game.
Ok, post those games!
I'll have to make some checks and get back here.
Game 786737
Still my best win to date. Move started on 29 .. a 5 move forced mate (the continuation being 32. Kg4 Ne5+ 33. Kh5 Qh3++) 🙂

I'm still trying to from my favorites. But this was only posted a half an hour ago. Why don't you enter a game or two?
Game 1280900

I don't think you should worry about making your opponents look bad. After all, they lost because you made a brilliant move, not because they blundered.

Nice 😀

Originally posted by rheymansI was considering it, but then I thought everyone would just search through Ironman's games for something, and it wouldn't be any fun for the people participating. Plus, no one who actually did enter one of their own moves would stand much of a chance, because who's going to vote and say that a move from someone many hundreds of points below ironman was more brilliant than his. I want someone who entered their own move, and was here to accept the glory. Not one of the top players who doesn't even know we're talking about him.

I think my move 16...Bg5! was the decisive move in Game 1231872
Don't be fooled by the difference in rating. We were about the same when the game began, which is true of the next two games as well.
The conclusion of Game 1177216 seems more or less foreordained after 23.Rxf6!
The sequence of 18.Bxf5! and 19.Qxf5! secured the win in Game 1228372

Game 1096517 = my move 8
Game 1200193
29.Bxe4!
Allows the bishop to die to protect the back rank while threatening mate.
(If 29.g3, then black opens up white with 29...e3 30.a7 exf2ch or other unpleasant variations)
Now it is black who has back rank issues.
36....Rxc7 is met by 37.Qxc7 Bd6 38.Qxd6 Qxa7 39.Qf8 mate.

PHEW!
Okay, that took a while to search through a LOT of games, and whittle it down to three. I got it down to four games, and one missed out because it had several great moves and I couldn't pick one! Probably one of the best games I ever played, ironically.
Anyway the three I picked, first is best I think:
Game 762435 move 20 - sets up *several* options with a guarantee that the opponent's queen is dead. Given I was behind on material at this point, it felt pretty good!
It was in fact ready a couple of moves earlier, but I had to avoid a couple of checks first. Probably the best planning ahead I've ever done (sorry deano).
Game 624881 move 34 - after a lot of mucking around while (again) down on material, this move was the one that turned the game.
Game 1070718 move 19 - his queen has just captured what *looked* like an easy pawn... and is dead two moves later.
