Can u explain what's weak about 7...Qxg2?
1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 exd4 4. Nxd4 Qh4 5. Nb5 Bb4+ 6. Bd2 Qxe4+ 7. Be2 Qxg2 8. Nxc7+ Kd8 9. Nxa8 Qxh1+ 10. Bf1
It looks like black gets a big advantage after that? White's knight is t ...[text shortened]... s for information purposes after I sussed the 8. Bf3.

1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 exd4 4. Nxd4 Qh4 5. Nb5 Bb4+ 6. Bd2 Qxe4+ 7. Be2
and now: 7. ... Qxg2 8. Bf3!
neither 8. ... Qh3 nor 8. ... Bxd2+ seems to be satisfactory for black.
Cheers
EDIT: my horrible English grammar... 😞

I have found only 3 answers for black to 5. Nb5 (all from books):
5. ... Qxe4+
5. ... Bb4+
5. ... Bc5
I've found funny the comment by Botterill and Harding to the 5th white move:
[begin of quote]
5. Nb5!
This is recommended.
Yet again with this (surely) sore-hoofed horse! Much though it resembles kriegspiel, this is, perversely enough, the right move.
[end of quote]
If 5. Nb5 gets played, what do you ppl believe Fritzie will answer?
(My guess is 5. ... Bc5)
🙂

5.. Bb4+
Right I guess its either Bd2 or c3. Id lean towards Bd2. Either way I guess we can be pretty sure Fritz will take the pawn straight after.

6. Bd2 ..... . I have never played this opening before. It seems to me the game will open and favor Fritz.
Lets not pussy around, we should be looking to take the fight to fritz, we arent going to win by sitting back and letting fritz have it all its own way. After Fritz grabs the pawn we get another piece developed and start looking to castle and then rip open the center (sac if we have to) and go king hunting.

I agree 🙂
So I'd play 6. Bd2!

just thought i would have a go at explaining my thoughts for fun:
c3/
we want material to mate fritzie with and c3 avoids exchanges.
but c3 blocks the advance square for our knight on b1
and leaves our rook a couple of moves slower from the mate-net than:
Bd2/
slingshots our whole queenside out into the fray at the cost of an exchanged bishop.
Nd2/
our knight is in the way of the rook so lets clear the rook's path, and it is too slow to get into our quick mate of the machine ... so lets offer that for the exchange instead.
this will mean we have both our bishop and our rook in the mating attack very soon after.
but ... it does not attack fritzies bishop ... and so leaves fritz with more options.
i favour Nd2.
what about also N1c3?
this lets our bishop out imediately, and if ... Bxc3 we can (avoid doubled pawns with Nxc3 or) go for extreme violence with an extra open file by playing bxc3 .... unfortunately the b7 pawn has the c8 bishop defending it, and so i do not like this variation.

c3 forces the retreat of the black bishop to a5, so c7 gets protected...
This seems to be one of the main intentions for Bb4+, an idea of Louis Paulsen
