[fen]r1bk2nr/pppp1ppp/2n5/1N6/5q2/8/PPPNBPPP/R2Q1RK1 w - - 1 10[/fen]i do not like Re1 because ... it will tend to lead to exchanges of our rook for fritzies ... we want to keep our rooks on and go for the throat .. we already have a half open file - with fritz's king at the end of it! ... our rooks may well want to use use that .. lets leave that decision till later and do now the things we have to do now ... getting our d2 knight across that big paddock etc
Game 845365
the Fritzy monster has played 9.. Qf4

between a4 and c4 ... i prefer a4 ... we are still in book it seems and fritz is not .... and a4 leaves fritz's queen with two extra useless moves - chewing up fritzies processor.
10 Bf3 Nd4 will force the exchange of a minor piece (our advanced knight) and maybe even lead to queen exchanges ... i do not like that.
can we just play Nc4 now? why is g3 before Nc4 better? this i cannot see.
Originally posted by flexmoreThe main problems I have with Nc4 now is that: A) It's not forcing and allows Fritzie to develop its Knight immediately; and B) With the Q at f4, our Bishop is tied up defending the Knight at c4 and can't move, blocking the e file and preventing it from going to f3 which looks like it's best spot eventually.

B) That's why 10. g3 is interesting. Black must retreat his Q to f6 or most probably to h6.
Two games you must to see: Mieses-Chigorin, and Botterill-Stapples
(the second is an improvement on the former).
BTW, I have not completely discarded 10. c4 as an option.
Cheers
P.S.: I must to stay in bed by medical prescription, at least for the next 2 weeks. In spite of it, I'll try to continue playing my games, this included of course.

Ok, In that case.
I would suggest my pet opening f4, but the collective knowledge among RHP'ers on this system is probably quite a bit lower than the others, not to mention exposing our King so early, is probably just asking for Fritz to hurt us.
c3, I like that idea, just because it is something I've been thinking about giving a try for awhile and ...[text shortened]... like the opportunity to read the thought process of some of the better players on the site.
