There is only one cure - you will have to play some blitz against me.
I think that doing massive blitz sessions for several hours at a time can give you the stamina needed to do well in a chess match - I sometimes play so much blitz that I feel like I have a hangover without being drunk, just because it has been so many hours since I moved out of the chair.
Originally posted by TyrannosauruschexI hate that feeling. I Pardubice 2008 only in one day we had two games (oh crap, the time control was 2h/40 + 1h) and the second game was around 5,5 h for me were I somehow managed to pull a draw in a completely lost position. Now that was hell of a hangover.

The tournament is over and I have real depression.... 🙁
My bad tournament result is not only bad thing which had happened this week. My bicycle is stolen, m laptop is in repair etc,
Look at all your friends on the site feeling for you.
One lousy tournament does not suddenly make you a bad player.
The bike was crap anyway. My mate Neil Berry took it and sold it on
ebay for a laugh.
And you needed a new lab top so throw away that piece of junk.
On a serious note. The last round blunder.
This is Geoff Chandler you are talking too.
I'm the oldest whore on the block.
You are cannot blame a 10 move loss on stamina.
Staying up all night playing that silly bullet chess against muppets,
that's what done it.
You have lost your sense of danger.
Treat yourself to some chocolate ice cream - then think of all
the people in the world who would love some chocolate ice cream
right now, but can't get any.
This will make you feels heaps much better.

Getting your vitamins can help a lot with stamina; I know what those long marathon games can take out of you. I found that eating a lot of fruit and foods high in B and E during a tournament kept my energy level high and my mind sharp. I would try to go to bed early and then take a quick swim in the morning before breakfast. I think it helped me a lot.
Chess is much more physically exhausting than many people would think.
