ok, so if i lost a few hundred points, then played you, and you lost, no problems? huh?
You know, becuase i was "too busy" too make move's 🙄
So i have to take 2x the loss of points. because you think your still 1600+?
Play at your rating, so other people dont have to lose points to a sandbagger like you.
Maybe ill do that, waste a few hundred poi ...[text shortened]... will be matched up....😏 And youll lose a few more points, then was "Honestly" deserved 😀
look. if a person was at some time rated 1700, and because of some reason (which is not important here) timeouted or resigned games so that his rating dropped to 1200. where do you guys think those 500 rating points went? the difference didn't vanish into thin air, somebody got the gain. just like somebody will get the wrong end of it when that person starts to lift his rating again.
and because there's one massive drop against every comeback, it'll all even out in the end: you will get the same amount of 'free' points as you lose 'sandbagged' points, given time.

Should he have sent her a card instead of visiting, explaining that he couldn't visit because the guys on RHP might think he is a jerk for not playing out his games? What's the big deal with some rating points anyway? they are not so much an indication of your ability but a record of who you have played. Is your life somehow worsened by the fact your rating went down, surely if its below your ability then it will quickly go back up anyway (not that it really matters)

There are times in life where you just can't play for a short period. Everyone is quick to "click the skull", so when you can't play, your rating takes a dip...its the way the server is set up.
So unless you just quit playing after that, you only have two choices, neither one particularly good. 1) Play people at your new rating and take their points or 2) Play people at your own ability level, and take extra points when you win and don't give as many points when you lose. Either way somebody is going to be unhappy.
Everybody just needs to understand that and accept that this happens the way the ratings are currently calculated. It all works out in the end as wormwood has said.
I doubt if anyone posted complaints while GalaxyShield was on his way down......

Had a game with someone with no morals.
Started out 1200, and was 1400, but really was 1600+
They even admited they were too busy to make moves, or some lame excuse, and timed out a lot of games.
My point was, why should someone lose points to a sandbagger, who wont play at a "honest" rating
I don't understand why people like you are so obsessed with ratings. If you've had a good game, then surely that should be enough.

[EDIT]Hypocrite: "It seems like there are some players here who are obsessed with their rating.
To the point of it consuming them, and taking over their sanity.
I play here to have fun, and get better. "

GalaxyShield (a) had a very good reason for not playing for a short time; (b) did not lose points on purpose (he was either timed out or was auto-timed-out); (c) makes no secret about his previous rating, and could not if he wanted to (his graph is there for all to see); (d) is a respected long-term member of, and friend to, the site.
To suggest he has no morals is absurd and unwarranted and, in these circumstances, offensive. You should check your facts before you start throwing around such insults.
If people don't want to play him at the moment, delete the game with no ratings penalty. I doubt such people will care if it costs them tournament points, or clan points, because they are only here for one thing - rating points.
Pathetic.

Sandbagging, is sandbagging period. If you delibertly lose points, to play higher rated opponents, and win, its sandbagging!
Originally posted by GrandmousterOf course, he pretended his mother was sick, so he could deliberately lose some points, just to annoy you by beating you and making you lose more points than you would have had he been his usual rating. 😞

What difference does a few rating points make? Just realise you played someone of a good standard, look through the game, learn from it, then play some more.
He lost the points because something came up that was far more important than this site. How does he make those points up? Beat up some 1200s who lose points because of his low rating? Some 1400s? Whoever he plays, they will lose more points than they 'deserve' to. At least this way, he gets to play some meaningful games while doing so. Are you suggesting he should take anyone elses points, as long as they aren't yours?
I expect from your previous behavior, the flaming shall commence pretty quickly, but I'd imagine most of the other 'trolls' on the site will agree with me...

Sorry to hear about his mother. But how long was she sick?
It only takes a few minutes to make a few moves, put on your vacation flag, message the administrators, or players, etc, etc.
If i lost a few hundred points, for whatever reason, then wanted to only play at my old rating, won back my points, at the expencse of the other players, instead of ekking them out against same rated opponents, then i would feel some remorse, and would know its not o.k.
Apparenly this kid doesnt, and neither do most of the other people here.
Well, most of society has low ethical standards, and commit moral transgressions all the time, so this is just one more.

- No, if it happened to me, I wouldn't give a damn. I don't shirk from a game just because the person has a lower rating than it appears they should have. I'd play someone rated 900 if they had fallen from 1800, just because it would be a good game.
- In fact, as GS still has about 250 points left to go before he reaches his old rating, I am more than happy to say that if he would like a game, as a chance to help get his rating back on track, I am more than willing to play him.
Maybe we need to implement the Morality Police! These guys can be alerted when someones chart starts to dip low.. and send their team to investigate..
They could have went to the hospital to:
1) confirm his mum was sick, and that Galaxyshields time wasn't wasted when she was getting better,
2) hire a private investigator to ensure that when Galaxyshield had some free time that it was spent reviewing his games and ensuring that he made moves on each and every game,
3) then take those moves, calculate how much time was spent on each move and compare to his average when his rating was high to ensure that he's not 'throwing the game'...
Should we instigate a poll maybe on who to vote for? I'd like to nominate Grandmouster, as apparently he has a set time already in mind as an allowable time to return to online gaming when family members get sick and no longer need to be visited in the hospital.
