That is precisely my point; to play someone much better will teach you something, and I would not reject an invitation to play just because he or she is rated much lower than me. Is ratings the be all and end all of chess? I hope not.🙂

Originally posted by excalibur 8you must be kidding. a 1700 doesn't get any kind of competition from a 1200, it just doesn't happen.

a 1300 once took my criticism of another 1300's game as arrogance, and wanted to show me what's what. we played 8 games and he lost every single one. while it was kind of fun to play instructive games, I can't say that I had any competition. I was around 1550 then. it's not arrogance, it's just the way it is.

The odds of getting a competitive game from a player rated 400 points lower are extremely slim. That's not arrogance, it's statistics.

My rating is below 1200 and I am working to have it improved. Never the less, I recently played a game against some one with a rating of 1705. I think that I provided good competition. I even won

nah, I'm finally moving next week if I get transportation. and my ISP says it'll take 2-4 weeks to move the connection. when I subscribed, they said 6 and it took 8, so it might be longer again. -I'm also thinking about changing ISP to one that would deliver within days, but on the other hand I wouldn't want to lose my email adress. I've had the same one for 8 years. it seems I'm in a zugzwang.
Rememeber slow tactics 🙂
