I'm seriously surprised that most people here jump at the opportunity to skull their opponents. When people do this, it tells me that they care more about some artificial rating than about the game of chess. What's the fun in an undeserved win? What do you learn? If your opponent refuses to move for a long time, then you should "skull" him. However, if he's just a little late, I think the loss is really yours.

being a non-sub, i can only play 6 at a time, so when some lummox is taking his sweet time, i'm going to skull him and move on to another game...
i really don't care about the rating i get on this site, as it's not my true playing power...
i skull so i can play another, hopefully more active, game in one of my six slots...
SUBSCRIBERS, however, have no excuse and should be more lenient with their skulls...

If you were playing OTB, would you wait for your opponent to checkmate you even after his time has expired and then allow him to report the win to the TD? Click the skull, click the skull, click the skull...
im afraid to say i skulled him. Proceed with the stoning
I dont care about my rating...i know its going to stay arond 1100 unless i start to learn oenings, study me games and things like that. Im not going to. im only here to play chess
I feel really guilt clicking the skull
Edit: he actually wasnt one move from checkmate... here is the gameGame 3268246
Edit2 I was on the back foot though..he would have beaten me
Originally posted by therealchessfanaticNo need to feel guilt, it is well within the rules. Say, for example, it wasn't such an obvious advantage. Leaving the game for longer than the time controls will give your opponent an advantage because they have more time to think about it and work out a win. If they played within the time controls, they could have potentially missed that.

The fact that it was an obvious win for your opponent, it is his/her fault that (s)he didn't play quickly enough.
Originally posted by dsmfireI usually give my opponent, regardless of the position, 2 days. If they still don't make a move, i click the skull
When time is out, time is out. In chess, time is a very important part of the game. It is a bit different at correspondence chess online, but nevetherless; you have an agreement, on beforehand, regulating your limits. Look for instance on this game Game 2405768, where Everyday (2328) loses on movetimeout to jfkjmh (2136) when Everyday, in move, is only ...[text shortened]... , not clicking skull. But it might depend on setting in tournament and relation to the opponent.
