Maybe not! Whilst white is down material, white also has more mobility. There is still some chance to mount a counter attack.

No a defnite time to resign is when U r in a losing position and then U ignore the board for a week in the hope of some magic reverlation. I think especially in correspondence chess that the emphasis should be on not wasting your opponents time, and similarly not dragging end games out when there is no clear winner but instead settling on an early draw. Fine if both players are content 2 play 1 move a week but if your opponent is a fast player than I think a personal consideration is in order. 😴

its better to resign than be checkmated as it shows a understsnding at top level you do not play out draws as they spend more time studing away from the board than playing and other grand masters would not be so forgiving in there analasis

But since we lack the understanding of GM's we might end up resigning games that could have been drawn,or even won. πŸ˜•
I say play on as long as you see any chance, small as it may be.😏

I agree that unless you a master or expert player, you should play out the game. At my level, I can always learn from it. πŸ˜• And if I am playing someone at my level, there's still a chance to turn around a winning game. πŸ˜€ And resigning a game against me is clearly a mistake as I have blundered a few won games in the past. 😲

But when I play someone with a significantly higher rating, I'll send them a message asking if they are willing to keep playing. Usually, they don't mind.

I will sometimes resign a game when the checkmate is near and clear to me (ie checkmate in 3 or 4). Otherwise, why quit early and miss an opportunity to learn something new? As long as your still having fun! 😡

I always like to play to the death, for learning experience and what not. With Miless I can see it being a nuisance because you are not a pawn star and stuck with only 6 games. Subscribe and those who do play games out won't be such a bother because you can have more games you can be playing! πŸ˜€

I don't agree Castle to d1 and Knight to attack the f pawn
Queen and 2ncd castle to the g or h line.

Last week I had a game (not on this site) and I'd made a calculation error
7 steps deep thinking. My opponent had 3 more pieces.
I give him all my pieces exept two
My king couldn't move at all (stale mate), with my castle I managed to get him check. He only could get my castle to get out of it.
I managed to make it draw (he was verry angry).

But most of the time if the opponant Is good and it is at the end of the game you can cave in. Nonetheless I've managed to get lucky more
often. So play on.

A good time to resign is when you do "The Phlabibit Gambit". This is where you trade a ...[text shortened]... at, and don't drag games out unless I have some small hope.

P-
"The Phlabibit Gambit", you named it for yourself, cute. But I must say, it is effective, RC tried it against me in a game and I was almost too stunned to accept it

I good point, but I have resigned a few games only to have my opponent ask me why. Sometimes you'll see that you're in a lost position and your opponent won't. Since then I've made it a point to play on until I'm good and sure that the other fellow knows I've lost.πŸ™„

Personally, I'm playing to the end. Perhaps it is rude; it's all a matter of opinion. I see it like this; if you are a player who is way ahead, then do what you are supposed to and win the game. If you can't take care of a person that is not in any position to attack you, then you need to learn how lol. That said, why not do it then? The other reason is that it is good practice for me to see how people close me out. I can learn from that (assuming they have a clue what they are doing). And they can learn. I don't know. I understand both sides. But as I see it, if you can't finish the game out you don't deserve to win it anyways and it should just be a draw if that is what it comes down to. Just my two...Peace

I agree with TaLi. I suspect the point may be argued rather more convincingly from the standpoint of a non-subscriber that people should resign earlier, because of limited games. But as a subscriber, with unlimited games, I don't care if someone I'm playing who has obviouly lost wants to keep going. Maybe they want to see how to close out? I am in no way suggesting that I can teach anyone anything beyond how the pieces move, by the way, before the legion of people who are better than me protest at my arrogance.πŸ˜›. At the same time, I will resign once I know I've lost, the point when I know I've lost is different when I relate it to different people as well. If I'm playing someone who is significantly better than me, I'll resign once they are significantly ahead of me entereing the endgame, if someone is of a similar ability, or lower then I'll hang on a bit, because I know I can make mistakes, so they can, too. The point I'm trying to make, in a rather long-winded manner, is that you should play on as long as you want, because it is all about learning, and fun. I recently played someone who was a piece up going into the endgame, and kept messaging me to resign, well I didn't because I thought I saw a way out of it. I had seen a way out, and won, and so I felt justified in not resigning, and told the other person that. They weren't so appreciative😏. If you want to resign to start other games, fine, if you want to play on, fine. I don't think there can be any hard and fast rule about this. No-one ever has the right to tell you to resign, and if they do, ignore them until you feel that you are happy with the game and have gotten out of it what you want.
blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.
