I feared something like that already. I might have seen this once... But, Mephisto2 had the right solution, hadn't he?
Very well. If he wishes, he may add the next puzzle. But you know as soon as I get one first we'll go back to the mate in 60. 😀
Originally posted by SwissGambitNo, let's stick to mate in 60 one, since you made the effort of looking it up and posting it. So far, all my efforts give a mate in less than 50. I must be missing a defense or two. I will pm you a line so you can shoot at it.

Originally posted by kbaumenIncorrect. I think you've missed a move (that makes it a draw for Black, so quite important).
1. Bf6+ Kh7 2. Bg7 a5 3. Kd7 a4 4. Ke6 a3 5. Kf5 a2 6. Kg5 a1=Q 7. Bxa1 Kg8 8. Kg6 and white easily queens. If 2. move was Kg8, then 6. Kg6 and everything else is the same. Looks quite easy. I'm probably missing something.
Originally posted by kbaumen4.Ke6 is wrong. Black can play Kg6 and white's detour to reach g6 is too long. If white plays 4.Ke7 instead, black is lost because after Kg6 white goes the other way with 5.Kf8, forcing the black king back to Kh7. But then white is just in time with 6.Kf7 a3 7.Kf6 a2 and Kg5

Not an easy endgame study:
[fen]5k2/8/4R1PK/3p4/2Br4/6nn/8/8 w - - 0 0[/fen]
white to play and draw
2. g8=Q+ Kxg8
3. Bxd5 Nf5+ [if 3. ... Rxd5 4. Rg6+ Kf7 5. Rxg3 draw, if 3. ... Kf8 4. Ba2 and Black does not come further, (I think)]
4. Kg6 Nh4+ [not 4. ... Rxd5? 5. Re8 mate]
5. Kf6 (!) Rxd5
6. Re5
now wherever the Black Rook goes, the White Rook travels along. i.e.
6. ... Rd8 7. Re8+! Rxe8 stalemate
6. ... Rd7 7. Re8+ Kh7 8. Re7+ Rxe7 9. Kxe7 draw
6. ... Rd6+ 7. Re6 and the Black Rook has to move to another place on the d-file again...
6. ... Rd4 7. Re4 [also threatening Rxh4]
6. ... Rd3 7. Re3 [also threatening Rxh3]
6. ... Rd2 7. Re2
6. ... Rd1 7. Re1... the Black Rook can't escape the stalemate trap!

I didn't solve the mate in 60, I only mentioned I had seen it somewhere [and boldly added a new problem after you solved it]. I still have no idea how to do it, something with the King walking to h8 is the only thing I could (vaguely) remember, but I can't figure it out.
For your entertainment another 'material plus' endgame:
White to move (and win, naturally)
Originally posted by heinzkatI leave this one for others to solve (the 'pointe' is a simple opposition at the end). I don't know the author of the previous one, I picked it up a year or two ago, but can't remember where.
