Ah, ok!! No worries. That makes much more sense!
Back to the thread subject, I don't really like the classical KID or the Yugoslav Dragon. This is not because the positions make me wince or anything, but because the thematic middle-game plans are so well known I think who wins just comes down to either (a) theoretical knowledge, or (b) chance.
Originally posted by Red NightThere I disagree, especially with the Dragon. If white thinks the attack is playing itself he often finds out the hard way that natural looking moves are often dubious moves (especially in the Yugoslav).

For awhile it was Qb8, then d5 made 9. Bc4 mandatory, then Qc7 made 9. 0-0-0 mandatory. Last I heard h5 was suppossed to bust the Yugoslav.
I still agree with Fischer, "pry open the h file, sac, sac, mate!"
By the way, I love the Dragon. I just like winning more.

Originally posted by Red NightI think the KID Samisch is often very interesting - and there are a large number of deviations from stereotypical moves that leads to novel positions, eg the a6-b5-c6 plan for black. I actually meant the closed positions where white is pawn-storming on the queenside, black on the kingside.

They should have another Dragon tournament.
Tony will be around soon enough.
1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 g6 6. Be3 Bg7 7. f3 O-O 8. Qd2 Nc6 9. Bc4 Bd7 10. O-O-O Ne5 11. Bb3 Rc8 12. h4 h5!
and as you said, after 9. 0-0-0, Black should probably play ..d5!
I still think black has good enough chances in both lines. 😀
