i believe i have already, but i will try.
Can we first define "higher rated player" as someone 100+ points above me (i know i am leaving myself open here, but i'm hoping that this will get a sensible hearing), and not someone of 2000, or some extreme like that.
imagine a tournament, say a hardcore tournament, na/30.
Ok now can you see any w ...[text shortened]... lus, so someone who can plan ahead and not attend to his games surely has an extra advantage?

I am currently playing a clan challenge against blindcheescake of the Golf clan (i'm sure you could find the games if you want).
As it stands, he hasn't moved for over 5 days, and as it is a 3/7 game, his timebank is going down.
If he could've preloaded his moves, he could theoretically still have all his timebank left, leaving me in a less advantageous position.
Another example.
I am playing another clan game against Hydraman of the guitar aliance. I have no doubt about his ability, and i could well believe he could preload moves, he made a mistake two moves ago, and gave me a free swoop on a knight.
I believe that if he had the option to preload this mistake may not have happened, i'm not saying that he would not make mistakes, but the room for error would be deminished, and it is the room for error that makes or breaks a game.
Another example
I have just entered a sprint tournament with 64 players. If i get a player of 1700+, and he can preload moves, this would make a mockery of the whole concept of a 1/7 sprint duel.
You have a notebook if you want to plan three moves ahead, why do you want extra advantages like being able to play the game without attending to it the way us mere mortals do??
Originally posted by huckleberryhoundYou know you're right. We should stop people being allowed to think in their opponent's time too. That advantages the better players too as they can think better.

You asked for an example, i gave you five, and all you can come up with is nonsensical sarcasm.
I'll remember in the future.

1. You can also take a 5 day break and if you had preloaded moves not suffer for it. Of course if the opponent makes a move that you didn't have a move for (say he hangs a piece by accident) then your preloaded move is no use.
2. How in the world does preloading moves reduce the chance for blunders? I'm at a loss to understand the logic here.
3. How does preloading moves make a mockery of a 1/7 tournament? The tournament will finish faster on average.
4. I only count 3 examples not the five you claim.

Like i said, i dont have to convince you. You asked for an example, i gave you a few, i'm getting bored of running round in circles now.
Pleae add your sarcasm as you see fit, i'm sure you have something prepared.

Nothing. What's wrong is when you suggest that a more serious and better player than yourself has 'nothing to do' with playing the game.
Get your facts straight timeout boy
Originally posted by XanthosNZno. no need at all. It seems clear to me that nothing i say will change your opinion, and all i seem to be doing is going over my earlier points again so you can find something silly to say.

You're not that important to me matey. I'm more than happy to hold a conversation with someone, but if they act smart (like timeout boy) , they dont hold my attention.
Originally posted by huckleberryhoundAnd I won't move on this site for many more days, either. Not until they get the playing interface up to snuff. Trust me, I'm making tons of chess moves elsewhere.
you are determined, i'll give you that.
you havent moved on this site for 22 days, you cant read numbers, and you have an inflated view of your own opinion.
i do like, however, how you have turned this thread into a thread showing off just how ignorant a person you are. . .nice one 😵
Sure, I was wrong about your win/loss record (a mistake that is understandable, given that most 1200 players go through their chess career getting owned by just about everyone), but I'm right about everything else that I quoted.
Ignorance is stating an opinion as fact, then failing to support it once it's challenged.
Originally posted by huckleberryhoundAre you really that naive? You do realize chess is played at many, many more places than just this website, right? I just finished up some blitz chess on ICC, as a matter of fact, in between pounding out responses to your latest tripe. An hour or so before that, I made my moves in corr. games on another site.
no. i questioned what someone who hasnt played a game on this site for 22 days has to do with the game.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to see blindcheesecake gain an unfair advantage over you! He already outrates you by 81 whole points (shudder).

I'm impressed .
Keep going timeout boy, you might find something that works 🙂
