An update - a first version of the new live chess is now integrated into RHP. It needs to be bashed into shape still - but see the new beta thread for more details. Thread 189001
Furthermore, BlitzChess dot net will no longer exist, and will instead redirect to another domain, "EvoChess dot com", which will be the site with all available variants and used to trial any new code before it is pushed to RHP proper. So it will be a sandbox, but also something in its own right. Correspondence variant support, for example, will be trialed there where the consequences of an error are less important.
