This is a new thread for the clubs consultation – we have moved forward leaving much of the old thread content out of date.
Features still missing, but coming soon :
1) Club member private tournaments. (You still need to be a sub, sorry.)
2) The ability to leave a club by choice/being kicked by club admin. (Yeah, I know...kind of urgent.)
3) Club game open invites. (Open invites for other club members only.)
I am also considering introducing a membership cap to give other clubs a chance to get beyond 50 members. This will probably be lifted in the future.
So far, I'm quite positive about the reception to this idea (despite a few vocal objectors, in the forums and via feedback) so work will continue.

Thank you very much Russ for your recent improvements in clubs.
I understand that non subs cannot enter tournaments. It makes perfect sense.
However, I was thinking "one annual duel tournament per year" that non-subs can enter (it will only add 2 games) might even help to promote subscriptions and give non-subs a good opinion what RHP tournaments are like.
Since non-subs will not be able to join to private tourneys can I sponsor annual tournaments myself?
I am willing to sponsor an Annual RHP International Club Duel where all members can enter if you can make this possible.
The prize will be a different chess book every year. I will mail a copy of Garry Kasparov's My Great Predecessors-Part IV in memory of the greatest American champion Fisher to the winner of the '08 Championship.
I perfectly understand if this is out of question and I apologize in advance if this is an extremely unreasonable request.
Sincerely,
Kenan

What you are basically saying is, because some clubs are not pulling support, you're going to force people into them by stopping them join fuller clubs.
Sounds like bad voodoo to me.

This will either help the cluhbs with fewer members achive the minimum 50 membership required to get themselves up and running or will mean some people will say "eff it" I wanted to join "ABC" but I can't and have been told to try "DEF". I don't like some membes in "DEF" so I ain't joining any clubs.
We need a boot or leave button ASAP.
Some clubs have members I don't wish to be associated with and wish too leave them.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the current order.
Out of curiosity just how many individual members make up the current club totals?
Originally posted by huckleberryhound{1} Instead of capping the biggest clubs, how about dropping the member requirement to 40 instead of 50.

{2} Also make it possible for clubs with numbers below say 20, to merge with each other.
{3} Allow us to see a member list in a similar format to Player Tables. The present system is pretty but also unusable if you want to see who joined first, their RHP rating, etc etc.

I have not visa and master card, so I can not registry subscriber without it is not very expensive to relax.
It is very nice to take part in tournament ^_^
Have fun.

Dropping the member requirement to 40 would be cool, but appeasing those who cant reach 50 to the detriment of bigger clubs seems to be out of sorts whith the reason for creating the clubs in the first place.
It's a toughy. On the one hand a cap would really aid my own club. On the other I'm in some of the real whoppers and I'd like to see them grow as large as is humanly possible.
I think clubs should be advertised more widely. Perhaps new players could be alerted to their existence when they first join.
Originally posted by RussI think you should allow non subs to enter a single tournament (at a time - they can enter another tournament once they have played all their games and been eliminated from the next round).

Tournament entry may take them above 6 games in which case they will not be able to start another (normal game) until they drap back below 6.
Giving non subs a limited taste of tournaments will I feel encourage them to subscribe to the benefit of RHP.
Why is there such a high membership requirement on clubs in the first place? I probably missed something in the earlier discussions, please don't flame. It just seems counter-productive when one of the main points is to compete against fellow clubbers. I understand how a very low setting -6 say - would skew the system, but why not set it at a reasonable value like 15?
