fours sounds stingy 😛
They are segmenting RHP as well as my home life and they are just lame in general.
It would be nice cuz we do not have to argue over stuff like this. 😛
By the way, clubs can pose bigger threats to RHP that we may not foresee now, let's just scratch them before it's too late. I mean come on it's getting ridiculous having another private forum after clans. It's just too much segmentation of the augmentation of the triangulation.

But I agree that there are too many private forums. However, if we are going to have clubs, having a club forum makes sense at some levels. The solution is then either scrap clubs or impose limits on the number of clubs you can join. I'd say 3 maximum. Maybe less. What's the point of having more than 4 (!!!) different rankings?

If you feel it should be 4 or 3 why would you be in 6....logical?
LOL...You are now in 7 and counting 😀

If the clubs are watering down the public forums, then if you want to have more ongoing active conversations then you're forced to join more forums. Moreover, I'm still in some just because I can't get out.
Nice try, though.
The great thing about clubs is that all of us can choose our own club limit. Think it should be..say... 5?. Don't join more than 5. I don't see the problem there. Being able to leave a club would be good of course, but I know Russ is working on that aspect.
In fact, if anything I think unlimited club membership will promote good forum citizenship, both public and private. Want to be able to join lots of clubs? Don't be an ass in the public forums. Want people to participate in the public forums instead? Same basic answer. The site will only be truly fragmented to people who are turned away/booted from large numbers of clubs. Right now, the only reason I can think of that happening is behavior. For everyone else, clubs are just another forum list, only with moderation they can "vote" on. To me, the club ratings are an interesting side benefit that will become significant for chess oriented clubs. For most, I expect them to be pretty meaningless.
So I'm all for being able to join an unlimited number of clubs and for clubs having unlimited membership. That'll effectively let people vote with their feet when it comes to forum associations.

It is beyond the point of being ridiculous to say that clubs are dividing RHP.
This is the first time in my life that I saw people in RHP got united, got to know each other better, welcoming each other and most importantly really listen to each other's opinion.
I am just being sarcastic when saying clubs can pose dangers, how can that be possible? How can strengthening our communication (and creating a brand new RHP subculture) through private clubs can hurt RHP?
The more communication the better it is.
Let there be as many private forums possible: if one can create a friendly, welcoming and logical arguments at the table of brotherhood.
The success of Clubs and Clans will revive the site's business as I see people are getting involved more about site matters and some people actually are subscribing.
I have friends who thanked me personally and said they subscribed or are considering to subscribe. A fact.
When we are thinking we have to lay out the realities and back up the facts and look from the bigger picture. Both clans and clubs can only be beneficial for this website.
Of course, if they are used correctly.
I see people biatching all day here and bla bla bla about the great dangers and segmentations and augmentations etc...Just tell you one thing. You do not make sense just because you can speak English well or good at English grammar.
I do not know many people's motive behind this dissing of the clubs. The clubs did NOT even start doing anything yet, it's still in forming, the paint is still very wet.
Let's all just cut the BS and get to the point now. The point of this thread.
We all know the last resort is scratch the clubs, that's clear. But before we get to that point why not try to work it out?
When clubs idea do not work and then we will all say "At least, we tried god damn it, didn't we". We will at least say that!
So now, how can we improve clubs?
Let's talk about that!
