I don't think it's relevant to discuss what chess.com or any other site is doing. Obviously many people come to look at this site, some stay, some don't. Our points of difference from other chess sites are what make this site so good to play on. I'm more preoccupied here with the point of this thread, getting the greeters' system to work better. I haven't ated rather less well than turn-based people, for example in the lack of a rating system.

Upper left you'll notice 100,000 plus members is estimated. Sounds like a lot until you know the claims of the market leader.

I've had to delete about half my games because the person was clearly looking for a blitz game. I think the "welcome game" function needs to point out that it's NOT a blitz game, because it starts to get annoying after the first half-dozen dead games.

By then it's too late. They never even get to look at the board, because an opponent didn't materialise immediately they requested a Welcome Game. It needs to be known before they get to make the request.
