i wonder why you prefer talking crap on these sites to playing chess??
Is it because you want attention ??
You should change 'these sites' to 'this site'. I do play chess on the other chess sites that I frequent.

I'm sure Russ would want to know why some people regard playing chess on his site as such an unpleasant experience!

However, one thing is for sure, the site wouldn't exist without people subscribing. I'm sure that it couldn't survive on the revenue from advertising alone

Wrong. It started out without paid subscriptions, and it could continue that way, if the site owner so chose. There is another corr. chess site that offers far more features for free than RHP, and it is still alive and kicking.

If you like playing chess at 'Red Hot Pawn', please consider becoming a subscriber. The 'Red Hot Pawn' community depends on subscribers for its continued existence and improvement...
...by becoming a subscriber, you become a trusted member of this site
Well, there it is in black and white: RHP dependant on subscriptions for it's continued existence. Sure, it started out without subs, but do you still believe that this and other correspondance sites could continue to survive on advertising revenue alone?
