I've been away for a couple weeks now mostly because of work. So I thought I'd stay away and not even look at this forum until work slowed down some because I wanted to try and look back here, which is today, and see what I've been in the middle of.
Yes there are a couple here that are trying to live up to the standards of a Christian as is outlined in the Bible. Jesus almost spoke of this daily to ones who followed him.
I know some here are not Christian and sadly it is because they once were.
No wonder with things that are said here. And I too have been guilty of that.
And no wonder some here do nothing but condemn the Christians, the bible and God.
Anyway for the ones who call themselves Christians, let all your life, "every aspect" of it prove that you are....
@galveston75 saidIn all my years here, I've never seen you as a poster "trying to live up to the standards of a Christian". You are dreary and bitter, mean-spirited ideologue, utterly incapable of processing dissent or diversity, and you play the victim card continuously and sometimes in a most deluded and deceitful way. Why don't you come here and try to live up to the standards of a Christian as is outlined in the Bible? I say this without rancour. And I presume you will respect my candour and my attempt to stay on-topic with these words.

Christians often show themselves to be Christians be it on this forum or elsewhere.
What they don't show themselves to be are followers of the words spoken by Jesus while He preached His ministry. Christianity does not have those words as its foundation.
They can claim to be "followers of Jesus" and cry "Lord, Lord" ad infinitum. It only makes them Christians. They will continue to fall well short of followers of the words spoken by Jesus while He preached His ministry.
You don't seem to understand the difference.

@galveston75 saidI can see you are seeking the high ground after years and years of behaving the way you have. But surely putting a few years in of being more admirable - and perhaps even inspirational - would be a better way to do that than starting a somewhat narcissistic grumbling-for-grumbling's-sake thread that is firmly rooted in your own false modesty?
I'm sorry you feel that way.
@fmf saidYou have your opinion. I clearly said what I noticed from observation, that is all.......

Maybe you are going for attention by your comment? So be it.

@galveston75 saidIf you want to demonstrate you are trying to live up to the standards of a Christian as is outlined in the Bible, just do it; no need for you to talk about it. Go ahead and be the kind of "Christian" you think you ought to be.
I understand that, but not much will happen tonight as I'm watching the Astro's play. Will probably be available to comment more tomorrow.
@galveston75 saidHow can you tell who is " ... trying to live up to the standards of a Christian as is outlined in the Bible. .

Are you that gifted?
@galveston75 saidPerhaps you should be trying to live up to the standards of a Christian.
Nope not gifted here. Just reading what is in black and white in the bible.
In their daily life, in both heart and mind, Christians are supposed to strive to be as like to Christ as they can possibly be.
So yeah, if Christ were alive today, I am absolutely certain he would spend all his time engaged in flame wars and pissing matches with nonbelievers in a backwater discussion forum on an Internet chess site. Makes total sense!
