@ghost-of-a-duke saidI know what you mean Ghost, about defending.
I think perhaps FMF and yourself have missed the point. It was not about 'heroics' and was not even about me saying afterward "Look FMF, I defended you in Debates." (He was 'literally' unaware that I had done so). It was the demonstration that he asked for that I stand by friends when they are not around to defend themselves. I do that on and off the forum and will continue to do so.
The atmosphere in this thread generated by the two posters that habitually twist the meaning out of the context and intent of those they are ideologically and spiritually biased against has, in my opinion, prompted suzianne to mention and infer that GB was treated in a most despicable way, and was a contributing factor in why GB left the thread, and may well have contributed to his ill health issue, as GB was a kind and gentle soul that didn't deserve to be vilified so virulently in this forum as he was.
What goes around comes around.
@divegeester saidGrown-ups can have more than one friend.
All this “heroics” stuff is a bit of a red herring though isn’t it, the issue here is actually how you choose your friends and why.
You have, for no reason other than a flimsy partisan loyalty, traded one long-term robustly developing intelligent friendship based on shared values, vibrant interests and a growing interpersonal knowledge for (what appears to me to be) a ...[text shortened]... w online kiss-and-tell acquaintance with one of this websites crazy forum harpies.
You’re nuts!
Try it.
@secondson saidSorry but I don't buy into the whole GB thing, linking his interactions here to his ill-health. That is not something we could possibly know or should speculate on. GB always stuck me as a robust chap who rather enjoyed the cut and thrust of the forum and handled himself better than most.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidAt last, after years of Suzianne regularly insinuating and suggesting that I had a hand in another poster's desth, you have decided to say something. And, oh... wait. Ah yes, it's not Suzianne you say it to. You say it to someone else. Not to Suzianne. You say it to someone just echoing it. Someone you have expressed your contempt for. But now you have at last got it off your chest, it seems, without having to confront the perpetrator.

@secondson saidBut didn't all this supposedly happen before you became active in the forums?

@ghost-of-a-duke saidYes, I said that, although I thought you struck me as naive because you thought that nobody on the internet would ever manipulate someone else via private messages, I said I thought your attitude and loyalty was a virtue and even a strength.
I seem to recall the word 'naive.'
@ghost-of-a-duke saidOf course. I apologize for using your post as a springboard.

But the whole affair makes me ill thinking about it and I'm in good health. GB was old and frail, and had health issues. He gave of himself from his heart the contributions of his faith and was mercilessly attacked for it by the forum scamps that trolled him endlessly and incessantly till he buckled.
@secondson saidRelatively recently, you were asked this:
But the whole affair makes me ill thinking about it and I'm in good health. GB was old and frail, and had health issues. He gave of himself from his heart the contributions of his faith and was mercilessly attacked for it by the forum scamps that trolled him endlessly and incessantly till he buckled.
"I would like to hear from anyone other than Dive, FMF and Ghost what happened to Grampy Bobby. I hear he may have stopped posting here because he was ridiculed for his beliefs. Can anyone verify this?"
This was your answer:
"Nothing happened to GB."
@secondson saidWithin the last few days you have on more than one occasion told me how much you liked me and how you found me to be a good debater, in fact you said that I am “one of the best”.

And yet here you are now slagging me off and inferring blame on me for the demise of another poster in a thread designed for one purpose, to attack me!
And you wonder why I think of you, and treat you as an utter tosser.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidSurely it is you who should “try it “ seeing as you are the one who has done exactly what I said in my last post to you!
Grown-ups can have more than one friend.
Try it.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidBut do you see how these termites now perceive you as being one of them, sharing their unprincipledness and as throwing your lot in with them and their scurrilous machinations like SecondSon is propagating.

Do you see it?

@secondson saidYou should be ashamed of yourself.

@divegeester saidShaming others is one of the unscrupulous methods you employ in your efforts to squelch the truth with spiritual deception.
You should be ashamed of yourself.
Jot that down for future reference.

@divegeester saidIf you weren't so busy finding ways to misrepresent and twist the meaning and intent of others you would have understood the sarcasm bully boy.

I have the same feelings for you as you do for me.
Jot that down for future reference.
