"Quite frankly, you have national regime media that they wanted to see Tampa, because they thought that that'd be worse for Florida. That's how these people think. They don't care about the lives here. If they can use it to pursue their political agenda, they will do it. They want to use storms and destruction from storms as a way to advance their agenda. And they don't care what destruction's in their wake."
~ Ron DeSantis, who campaigns on his Christian values, trying to politicize the hurricane to advance his political agenda.
“We’re all targets now, though, for daring to push back against the regime. And it doesn’t stop at a weaponized legal system. I’m not going to mince words with you all. Democrats want Republicans dead and they have already started the killings.”
~ Marjorie Taylor Greene, prominent Christian nationalist

Election debate,
Question: Is there anything you'd like to say about what you admire about your opponent?
Christian liberal Democrat candidate: I admire my opponent as a family man, who has provided for them, and raised his children conscientiously and responsibly. The American family is the basic building block of our society. And I admire my opponent as a family man.
Question: And what do you admire about your opponent?
Christian MAGA-GOP candidate: I admire my opponent's parents who were good honest hardworking people and they gave him a solid upbringing which makes it all the more surprising that my opponent hates America and hates his fellow Americans so much.

To what extent, and in what ways, can political scumbaggery manifest itself in the behaviour of someone who claims to be "right with Jesus" before it becomes obvious that such claims are manifestly false?

It does not matter if the scumbaggery or sin is political or not, it's still scumbaggery that's sin. Just because it may be done for political reasons does not matter in the least. It's still sin and if a politician is doing these things, It's safe to say that they are not right with Jesus; even if they say that they are.
Do they follow the teachings of Jesus in their actions? Do they break the 10 commandments? Do they love God and neighbor? When they fail do they attempt to make it right?
etc.
