@ghost-of-a-duke saidCorrect. Imagine you have to tell Christians who claim to study the bible, that the context is critical for proper understanding. I think they know this, but they pretend they do not know so that their church doctrine can have some false biblical support.
That passage needs to be read in context old chap (something Kelly repeatedly fails to do, plucking out the 'dirty rag' riff to suit his purpose).
Read on and Isaiah 65:1-7 describes the false righteousness of the people, which helps clarify when 'righteous deeds' are like filthy rags. God is clearly angry at the pseudo-righteous deeds of religious hypocrites. He is not telling His people that righteous living is impossible or beyond them.

@kingdavid403 saidIs there some part of the teachings of Christ where you get the impression that perfection is a requirement? Why are you making rules for people?
No one is or will ever be perfect on this earth in the flesh.
@kellyjay saidThe Holy Spirit is not with most Christians, and certainly not with Christianity as a group. Christians pretend they have the Holy Spirit. They lie, and they deceive people into believing that they can do miracles, speak in tongues and heal the sick. It has been proven over and over that they do no such things and they are all a sham.
Do you think the Holy Spirit is infallible?
If they Holy Spirit was with Christians there would not have been thousands of different Christian sects all preaching different doctrine and all claiming to be the only correct one. Gods Spirit does not cause confusion, but brings unity. There is none among Christians. They are mostly false teachers peddling their doctrine to get rich and live off the poor. They preach doctrines contrary to Christ.
The Holy Spirit guides the righteous to live righteously. Yet many Christians live sinful materialistic lives. Most have jumped on the LGBQT bandwagon and even condemn Christians who have not supported homosexuality. Their morals are gone. They have joined Satan.
Jesus said if the Holy Spirit is with you, you will preach His commandments and His teachings. People like you do nothing of kind. You do the complete opposite. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (Matthew 28:19-20 KJV)
I have never once in 15 yrs see you teach people to observe the commandments.

I agree. Isaiah was a Prophet before, during, and after the first destruction of the Jewish temple. It's fairly clear he was chewing out the suppos ...[text shortened]... ost of a duke.' It's awesome that you're in the Word. Iron sharpens iron old chap. Thank you. 🙂
I agree though, nobody is perfect all the time. Go and sin no more is an ongoing challenge for all of us.
Edit: When a parent tells a child to 'go and sin no more' they don't really expect that child to go forward in life living like a saint. The parent knows full well the child's limitations and that striving for perfection is probably the best they can hope for.

lol, As with most of us. You're doing well.

Most certainly. 🙂

@ghost-of-a-duke saidStriving for perfection, yikes. What an awful burden to place on anyone, especially children. It's setting them up to fail.

"Aim For The Moon. If You Miss, You'll Land Among The Stars."
Edit: The parent referenced didn't 'expect' their child to strive for perfection, they 'hoped' for it. (That they would strive to be the best version of themselves as they went through life).
@rajk999 saidThat is simply all that you ever offer nothing that disproves anything only that you have called (rubbish) as if you saying that is a point.
Rubbish remains rubbish regardless of how many times you try to convince people otherwise.
Your rubbish doctrine was not preached by Christ. Jesus tole people to and do good works and they will be rewarded in this life and in the next, and also have treasure in heaven.
You tell people they cannot do anything good and they are filthy sinners.
You are a loser, and a false teacher. Take your stupid church doctrine and go stick it you know where.
@ghost-of-a-duke saidTalking to the believers, the messages to those that don’t have Christ is repentance and believe.
Which you believe renders all good acts as nothing better than dirty rags?
'Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share.' 1 Timothy 6:18
'But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great" Luke 6:35

@rajk999 saidWas it not Paul that wrote “faith without works is dead” ?
Here are a couple misleading things:
1. Somewhere along the line Paul gave Christians the impression faith alone is good enough. Works are trying to earn ones eternal life. I think it is people who are not reading through it carefully. James made it clear that faith without works is dead. Paul did as well but he did not preach good works and righteousness the same way ...[text shortened]... is Paul is not abundantly clear the way Jesus was about critical doctrines.
I can list many more.
