transitive verb
To lie
intransitive verb.
Let's make two pairs, shall we? One takes a direct object, and the other does not.
{Assumes Rolf harris Aussie accent:} "Cin you giss which one is which yit?"
(Translation: "Can you guess which one is which yet?" )

besides - english is based in old english, where I could have said
