the quote from douglas adams reminds me for some reason of 'god' in philip pullman's 'his dark materials' trilogy - maybe because it's not exactly an omnipotent vision of the almighty...
or maybe it's nordlys that reminds me of the first in the series, 'northern lights'.
has anyone read them?
