Seen on a friend's Status on WhatsApp. Translated from Indonesian.
"God didn't create you to try to earn money and then die".
Those here who talk about their belief that God created them often seem to be saying more or less this:
"God created you in order that you believe in him and worship him and if you do, you will have everlasting life".
At the bare bones level, is there more to God's perceived purpose than that?

@fmf saidCovenants are rarely, if ever, one-sided.

I think it is more along the lines of "God created you to have a relationship with you - forever."
@fmf saidI can feel my toes curling when I read bumper sticker slogans like this one.

It is scripturally sound to assert that it is a gift from god to be happy in your work, to be prosperous and to be blessed through the accumulation of possessions.
It is also scripturally sound to assert that focusing on temporal matters, personal status and the accumulation of wealth and possessions is a barrier to a prosperous relationship with God.
There is an order to things which is more important that weighing the individual parts.

@suzianne saidOk, well this is what I suggested in my OP...
I think it is more along the lines of "God created you to have a relationship with you - forever."
"God created you in order that you believe in him and worship him and if you do, you will have everlasting life".
forever = everlasting life
relationship = belief, worship
For you, what else belongs under "relationship"?

Seems your response to that quote, while what you said is true, isn't taking into account the whole context from which it was taken.
I might have said, "God didn't create you just to try to earn money and then die".
Are your toes uncurling?
@secondson saidWhat context is it that you think I’m missing?

@divegeester saidThe one from which the quote was taken. Are you having difficulty following the thread from one post to the next?
What context is it that you think I’m missing?
@secondson saidDon’t run away already.
The one from which the quote was taken.
What context are you talking about that you think I’m missing from my original post?

@secondson saidThe whole context of the 'slogan' in the OP is that it was a kind of there's-more-to-life type note-to-self posted by a Muslim friend who has to work night noon and morn to make ends meet.
Seems your response to that quote, while what you said is true, isn't taking into account the whole context from which it was taken.

@secondson saidWhat else is required of a believer to fulfil God's purpose for him or her aside from belief and worship? I don't think this is as difficult a topic as you are making it seem.
Now you're throwing the word "required" into the mix. What are you talking about now?
@divegeester saidSeems you've run away from coherence.
Don’t run away already.
What context are you talking about that you think I’m missing from my original post?
The context from which the quote in the OP was taken. Not the context of YOUR original post.
This thread is only one page in length and you've lost the flow of thought already. Quite sad.
Unless of course you're obfuscating intentionally.
