@sonship saidAny google search for 'prayer reading' flags up Living Stream ministry. (It doesn't flag up any Christian denomination that supports such a practice).
@Ghost-of-a-Duke
I now have sufficient knowledge of Nee and Lee to recognize and dispell the irregularities you post here.
Watchman Nee didn't talk explicitly about "pray-reading."
You combined Nee/Lee in your criticism of praying with the Bible.
That would be the first thing I would be surprised that you seemed not to know.
An additional thin ...[text shortened]... ts that.

That it is a LSM book only shows that local church people put perhaps more emphasis on it, encouraging it.
Now sometimes others express it as meditating on Scripture.

This Then Is How You Should Pray
But the words themselves I knew and still know by rote and can recite them all in a heartbeat. They are simple words, with essentially straightforward meanings. “Father” was God in heaven, and His Name, “God,” was holy. When saying this prayer we wished for heaven to be on earth, to live peacefully, serene, with harmony among all. It is also a wish that our needs, food, clothing, shelter, a job, education, everything, be fulfilled to an ideal extent, for everyone.

Its essentially talking about praying and meditating with the words of Scripture.
Here's another site - Biblical Meditation
A 7-Step Meditation Process Which Results in Revelation
I have not read it all yet. But I am pretty sure it also is approaching Prayerful handling of the Bible. There's not associated with LSM either.
It includes this advice:
Speak & Imagine: I ponder the Scripture, speaking it to myself softy over and over again until I can say it with my eyes closed. As I repeat the Scripture, I allow myself to see it with the eyes of my heart. I note what the picture is in my mind’s eye as I repeat the Scripture.
Feel God’s Heart: While seeing the above picture, I ask, “Lord, what does this Scripture reveal about Your heart toward me?” I feel His heart and journal it out.

Meditate on God's Word
...
Today I want to encourage you to find those quiet waters where you can get alone with the Lord. It may be a room in your house, outside under the trees, or some other place where you can shut out the noise and distractions of the world for just a few precious minutes. The key to renewing your mind, body and spirit is to develop the habit and discipline of meditating on the Word of God every day — even if it is for just a moment.
...
1. Meditating on God’s Word will give you spiritual success.
God told Joshua, “Study this Book of the Law continually. Meditate on it day and night so you may be sure to obey all that is written in it. Only then will you succeed” (Joshua 1:8, NLT). God’s definition of success in life is to know Him better. One way we do that is to read and understand His Word!
2. Meditating on God’s Word will help you keep your heart right before Him.
“The word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12, NIV). We need to evaluate our thoughts, deeds and motives each day, confessing any wrong attitudes or actions (1 John 1:9). The Bible gives us clear direction on how to live. It is a mirror that accurately shows us where our hearts really are.
3. Meditating on God’s Word will give you insights and wisdom that will guide you at every turn in your life.
“I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes” (Psalm 119:99, NIV). There is supernatural wisdom that comes from meditating on God’s Word. It will strengthen you, guide you and give you hope and victory in every situation!
4. Meditating on Scripture will help you fill your mind with the things of God.
“Fix your thoughts on what is true and good and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely, and dwell on the fine, good things in others. Think about all you can praise God for and be glad about” (Philippians 4:8, TLB). Since we can only think about one thing at a time, meditating on God’s love and goodness leaves no room for wrong thinking.
He's really close to our encouragement to "pray-read" the word.
Here's another NON- LSM voice -
Meditating on God’s Word
https://www.allaboutprayer.org/meditating-on-gods-word.htm
To meditate on God’s Word means, “to murmur in pleasure, to ponder, utter, converse with oneself aloud, speak, reflection, devote oneself, pray, declare, talk with, commune, produce a solemn sound.”2 Have you ever embarrassed yourself in public by having a conversation with yourself? Yet verbalizing is integral in any learning-memorization process. Our confidence becomes reinforced as we tell ourselves, “You can do it!” Therefore, what power is unleashed when we utter or declare [meditate on] the faithful promises of God?
Do a little more looking. You'll find though the phrase "pray-reading" is not used, essentially they are speaking of exercising your praying spirit and musing mind on the words of Scripture.
@sonship saidSo to clarify 'prayer reading' is not used in any of the links you've given, just as 'trinity' doesn't appear in scripture?!

To "clarify" neither the phrase "pray-read" or "trinity' appears in the Bible.
And the book you recommend was published in March 1981 by, wait for it,....Living Stream Ministry.
That Lord Thou Saidst was published by Living Stream Ministry is irrelevant to the point that it is research on the history of Christians praying with the words of Scripture. It relies on the words out of their own mouths.
Ghost's leans to a genetic fallacy that the publisher identity suggests the research is invalid.
@sonship saidAt a rough guess, I’d say at least 50% of the stuff you copy and regurgitate in this forum isn’t in the Bible.

@sonship saidWhy is the Bible secondary to your theological understanding and practice and why have you willingly embraced a charlatan who has condemned Christianity to Satan?

What is your rough estimate of the percentage of things you write here that show ANY belief or love at all for God ?
Maybe %100 of Ghost's writing is designed to draw readers away from God.
Another way to receive the Holy Spirit is to call upon the name of the Lord in all sincerity to touch and contact Him in your heart.
'Therefore you will draw water with rejoicing from the springs of salvation, And you will say in that day, give thanks to Jehovah; CALL UPON HIS NAME!" (Isaiah 12:3,4)
Opening your heart and opening your mouth, calling and giving thanks to the Lord Jesus, will allow Him to come in flowing like the "springs of salvation"
Drawing water from the springs of salvation - by opening up your whole being and thanking and calling on God to be your Savior.
amen.
@Ghost-of-a-Duke
I count your activity now to be trolling and provoking, nothing more.
Cheap, inane, easy to pop off grumbles, half truths, just fishing to provoke.
It is an interesting phrase there "draw waters from the wells (or springs) of salvation.
This verse must anticipate the action of God installing His Holy Spirit in the innermost being of His people. When they then turn their heart towards Him, calling Him and thanking and praising Him, they simultaneously enjoy drawing up the Spirit as drawing the living water.
Beware though of those who have no experience and want none. They are liable to say that that is not even in the Bible, as you can plainly see it is.
Draw water from the wells of salvation.
Giving thanks to God.
Calling upon the name of God in truth with an opened heart to God.
@sonship saidSo you want evidence of "God's" effect on divegeester but you'll melt down in a fumbling frenzy of dodging and deflecting when you are asked for evidence of "God's" effect on you?
