Of course, it would take a miracle for chalk to do that!

I assume USC was the University of Southern California? Do we know the name of the professor? The title of the course? The actual year? This sounded to me like a classic un-corroborated urban legend so I did a quick Google.

http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/c/chalk.htm says:

First, the University of Southern California has officially denied that this ever happened there. Dr. Dallas Willard, a philosophy professor at USC, has told TruthOrFiction.com that he's never heard of it happening in his more than 30 years at the school.

There is a related story, however, told by author Richard H. Harvey in his book 70 YEARS OF MIRACLES. It's a first-hand account of his experience in a Chemistry class at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania in the 1920's. Harvey says the professor, a Dr. Lee, was a deist who annually lectured against prayer. In one of the class sessions, Dr. Lee said he was going to drop a glass flask on the floor and asked if anyone would like to pray first that the flask would not break, therefore demonstrating the reality of prayer. Richard Harvey volunteered and prayed. The professor dropped the flask and it rolled off his shoe to the floor without damage. The class cheered and the professor stopped his annual lectures against prayer. TruthOrFiction.com has confirmed with Allegheny college that Richard Harvey was a student there and that Dr. Lee was a professor. Richard Harvey's son, Rev. John Harvey, a minister in Toccoa, Georgia, says this all happened before he was born, but confirms that the story was told by his father.

And http://www.snopes.com/religion/chalk.asp says much the same thing but adds that the wording of Harvey's text makes it clear that he did not witness this first-hand but rather heard it the same way that we have now heard it and it therefore fails to validate the legend. Unfortunately, Snopes won't let me cut and paste.

Move along, nothing to see here.

I think its tim88 whose had his chalk taken away.

Hi tim88, I'd like to know why you thought this video should be considered compelling enough evidence of the existence of God, being as it is at best an unverified anecdote that is already known to have gone through a number of changes over the years.

stellspalfie, don't worry, I have another piece of magic chalk in my pocket. I'll get one of the Lord's angels to take it across to you. 🙂

What a crock of 'sh'...... 'it'!

I HAD to read this juice to find the flaw, and the flaw came from the words of the alledged student, who had 300 ( three hundred ? listening to him? ). There are few professors who have 300 students in a lecture hall at any given moment..... so that's BS for a start.

The student, or the enticed video from a non-sequential order quotes, " 2. Pass this along to your Christian or non-Christian friends, giving them the encouragement we need every day

We need? We believers need encouragement? How weak is that? 😲

Who's we, exactly? The believers need encouragement? I never saw such a crock of cutlery in a pathetic vid like this.

tim88, go eat yourself.

We ask for proof or even evidence of a god and THIS is what you come up with?!?!?

And you wonder why we say there you have no evidence for god.

The video uses a made up urban myth to attack a straw man idiotic position and then
employs the fallacy fallacy to state that having unconvincingly shot down this strawman
argument the atheist position must be false...

Logic fail.

What's so amazing about that? Even I say there is no proof of God. But where you and I differ is that I am not limited to believing only what my eyes tell me.

As a follow up to the OP, this one shows the value of what is not seen.

Yes and you are wrong.

As I explained in detail in this post (3rd down)
http://www.redhotpawn.com/board/showthread.php?threadid=145793&page=5

Belief via faith is inherently flawed and immoral.

And Oh Good Grief is that another lame ass straw man attack again coming from the
Christian youtube's... Why of course it is.

Seriously get some better arguments because that's pathetic. (and logically flawed to boot)

you have added "not limited to believing only what my eyes tell me" where has any atheist suggested they only believe what their eyes tell them? using a made up example of a teacher being stupid does not prove anything other than the teacher was stupid. you need to come up with something better than this, its just as bad as the op.

No, the issue is that the OP seems to think his video is good, convincing evidence for God.

We all know you can't prove (or more to the point, disprove) God.

Sadly, your little video is equally vapid the teacher was a creationist giving an argument that is a strawman. I was hoping for something more that that from you since you are normally pretty good.

Belief via faith is inherently flawed and immoral.

You may have explained this in detail, but that miraculously doesn't stop me from not buying it.

God is not immoral, and so belief in God through faith cannot be immoral.

It is what man does in the name of God that is very often immoral.

Man is very often evil, but God cannot be.

(And yes, I am fully aware of your disagreement, and even why. It still does not make you right, just because you disagree.)

(By the way, I'm thinking most of the posters in this thread need to go out and buy a sense of humor. My post was certified 89% tongue-in-cheek. If I decide to try to set out to prove something, chances are very good that I'm not going to go to YouTube for my arguments.)

Wasn't funny, no.

So the chalk slipped that day. After all, he had been doing this chalk gig for 20 years, right? An accident like that was bound to happen.

Good story, but the conclusions? You've got to be kidding.
"There are only two options" , yeah right, does anyone believe that?

And what are we supposed to "pass on"? The chalk story, or the obviously christian doctored version of the chalk story.
"talked to the class about Jesus for the next half hour" . What absurd rubbish. I reckon that part is totally made up. Maybe he did talk about jesus for a bit, but do you expect me to believe that this particular class was so moved by this accident that they just opened up to this young christian guy and listened to him talk about JC for the next half hour??
Pull the other one.
It is precisely this sort of disinformation that need to be weeded out of our daily lives. Shame on anyone who tries to take a story like that and then put a christian bias on it like that only to promote their faith.
In the end , disinformation only works against you, unless no one finds out that you are lying. Shame all round.

I'm in. Do you want my bank and credit details right here?

I've already started putting together t-shirts with pics of The Chalk, I'm just trying to find the best wording for underneath it. How about " The Chalk has Spoken"
or "The Chalk and Jesus are One"?
