I believe God created it all but .....6K ? I go back n forth on this but for me look at the size of the universe and the Light/travel time dilemma this shows an old universe. Even if the measurements are off by 10% there are objects way further out than 6k light years from us. If God created the heavens and earth only 6000+ years ago we should be in a 6k l ...[text shortened]... this is not what we see is it?

PS: many YECers have become a religion unto their own
years are not required, but could be. I accept that God can do anything
that can be done, as such He can create a universe by speaking it into
reality and we can look at it and draw many assumptions, some good as
they reflect reality and others not so much. Faith NOT fact is all any of us
have with respect to the age of the universe. We can draw upon many
assumptions to give us what we think are valid answers, but if our
assumptions are based upon things NOT true than 10% of a full blown
error will not get you any closer to the truth.

meanwhile countless evidence point to an old earth.
so you see, you are not placing your trust in god. you are placing your trust in men. ignorant men. men who thought bathing regularly kills people. men who belonged to a denomination (catholicism) you don't, a denomination that has renounced those ignorant claims.
don't behave like what you make an informed, rational decision to believe in a young earth. it is a decision made from fear, because you are scared shtless that god will condemn you to an eternal torment if you choose to disregard something from the bible. meanwhile, you already disregard lots of stuff from the bible. so at what point do you actually involve a shred of logic and common sense into your beliefs?

Actually there is no evidence pointing to an old earth. The atheists and evilutionists make several assumptions so that their interpretation seems to indicate an old earth. However, this has all been debunked by creation scientists that show much evidence for a young earth.

That is not science. That is politics. Pure and simple. Anything to aid the fairy tale of creation.
And about Mo, he says "God spoke to me''. Trust me, he did, I had just eaten this GREAT mushroom and there he was telling all this stuff and I had just lost my favorite papyrus and so had to chisel this stuff on these slate stones I found. Trust me, god himself told me.

jesus needed to teach love and compassion, not physics and math.

Even when you are shown (as I did in this thread) that there are highly reputable scientists who happen to be also highly reputable Christians, who support evolution.
The point is, you do not conduct a discussion, you are just a stuck record.

You are imputing malicious intent to reputable scientists and Christians!
If you were to say this about Francis Collins in a public paper, you would be sued for slander.
If somebody were to accuse you of secret malicious motives, you would be up in arms!
Not only a stuck record, but a poisonous one!

no
evolution has nothing to do with christianity, or any religion for that matter.
even jews, who have the old testament as the main book, understand it shouldn't be taken literally.
in fact, most christians don't take the old testament seriously. only religious cults such as jehova's witnesses or rjhind's merry band of ignoramuses believe it is crucial for christians to believe in a young earth.
