I don't see it will make any sense to continue this discussion. You are talking about Islam as if you know everything, but your sources about Islam is from the Media. I can't discuss any issue with you as long as these are your sources.

For example you are talking about beating your wife. And you of course assume that this beating is hard beating that will cause harm, although in Hadith it is defined very differently . And it is far from what you think (it is just defined as pating). But your source didn't talk about that, may they don't know, or may be they know but don't want you to know. But the result is that you got a false impression.

Same goes for all your argument based on a biased sources. Which will not allow any susccesful progress either for me or for you. Because your approach will not work for me, and you don't listen to what I say. It is exactly like a dumb is speaking to a deaf.

Taking Muslims actions to make conclusion about Islam is not a valid argument. And no i will stand still while my neighbor is beating his wife to death, I will stop him because that is not what Islam teach. And if he thought that Islam teach him to do that then he is not Muslim.

If you think that the severity of the prescribed beating is germane to the issue I take with the whole "the wife's role is to obey the husband and guard his stuff; the husband's role is to admonish her and tap her lightly if she doesn't" teaching, then you have really missed my point.

You might actually be incapable of appreciating what it means to accord women personhood, if you think such a thing can be achieved merely by sufficiently limiting the severity of the beating.
