Try and get this...... Yes Jehovah God is the ruler of everything, which includes the earth. So what does that scripture mean at 1 John?
If Jehovah was the acting ruler, right now, why are things so bad on this planet? Would he allow all the sickness, poverty, cruel worldly leader, wars, earth quakes, killer weather, etc, etc? If he was I think most would agree he isn't doing so good. Yes in the future he will correct all of these bad things, but not yet.
So what does the scriptures at 1 John mean?

Satan is referred to the prince of this world, not the ruler. Daniel called God the ruler of the world. Ruler and prince and not synonymous.
Next Jesus said Saten NOW shall be cast out. . Jesus is referring to what is going to happen by his death on the cross. By His death, Satan was cast out of being the prince of this world. This is what the bible says.
Your church teaching that Satan is still ruling the world is just rubbish.
