@divegeester saidIt wasn't spirits that descended on Jesus; it was the Holy Spirit!
Christians in this thread keep asking me this as though my thinking I know what it means, or my not knowing what it means, somehow negates that fact that the bible is unequivocal that predestination exists. However if one reads those scriptures I think it is quite clear what it means. Some people just don’t want to believe it.
I have already acknowledged that there is ...[text shortened]... ve to invent a three person godhead in order to understand the mystery that God actually ONE person.
Matthew 3:16
And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him;
@kellyjay saidThat’s correct.

@divegeester saidMost likely the post I was replying to.
On what are you basing this silly, lash-out observation?
@divegeester saidYes, I am. I pride myself on my jerkiness. I own it. Relish in it. Foster, feed and nurture it. I have perfected it. Awash in it. Glory in it. Enjoy, bask and celebrate in it.
Looking back at much of your seemingly intoxicated posting over the last 48hours, I’d say it is you who are being a jerk.
No one knows what it's like like I do. I love being me.
Shall I go on?
@divegeester saidI wondered about that; I didn't think you'd purposely say such a thing.
That’s correct.
@divegeester saidYour grammar skills are good. I can read and understand what you mean by what you say.
Well you have stated that you think I’m a “good poster”.
Most of the time.
@divegeester saidI'd like to say, but I don't think you read my post about predestination with comprehension.
In what way?
@divegeester saidAre you familiar with the Shema Yisrael.
… does not mean that we have to invent a three person godhead in order to understand the mystery that God actually ONE person.
Deuteronomy 6:4
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
Hear - šāmaʿ
O Israel - yiśrā'ēl
The LORD - Yᵊhōvâ
Our God - ĕlōhîm
LORD - Yᵊhōvâ
Is one - eḥāḏ
שְׁמַע יִשְׂרָאֵל יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ יְהוָה אֶחָד׃
JEHOVAH OUR GODS IS ONE JEHOVAH.
Freaks people out. As if believing what the scriptures actually mean by what they say will cause them to be a heretic or something.
Numbers 15:41
I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the LORD your God.
LORD, all caps, is God's name, Jehovah - Yᵊhōvâ. Pronounced yeh-ho-vaw'.
God, 'ĕlōhîm, pronounced el-o-heem'. Plural of אֱלוֹהַּ - 'elowahh - God.
I would love to take you over to Genesis 1:26-31, and make some comparisons, but I fear you'll get muddled up and completely misunderstand.
@josephw said“Most likely”… ??
Most likely the post I was replying to.
I suppose that when one is as frequently as angry as you seem to be, it can become difficult to remember what you were lashing out at after a while.
@josephw saidWhy are you copy/pasting all this stuff about god being one at me, when I’ve been posting here that God is ONE (not a trinity) for over 13 years?
Are you familiar with the Shema Yisrael.

Why do you think I’ll be “freaked out” by it?
You think I’ll get “muddled and completely misunderstand” if you “take me over to Gen 1:26-27”
”Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them male and female he created them.”
“Freaked out”
“Muddled”
What on Earth are you on about?
@josephw saidYour dodge is noted.
I'd like to say, but I don't think you read my post about predestination with comprehension.
So have you decided if you think predestination is real or not?
Also
Have you decided if you think eternal suffering is real or not?
@josephw saidThere are two specific words for "one," each meaning something different. Do you know the difference in that language and which one was used in Deuteronomy 6:4?
Are you familiar with the Shema Yisrael.
