The thing that puzzles me about that is just why the church felt the need to sample a part ...[text shortened]... is cotton? Who knows, we only have the church's word for what the the rest of it is made of.
There will probably never be another scientific study of the shroud, the church won't let it happen again. Not that it matters much. The only thing it could prove is a body was in the shroud or the thing is a fake.

What if we got the DNA off it? Wouldn't it be interesting to have a close look at Gods Y-Chromosome?
Do you think Jesus was free from all genetic diseases?
A surprising number of Christians believe sin is carried in the genes, wouldn't it be interesting to find out what a sinless genome looked like?
If however the Y-Chromosome turned out to be standard Jewish genes, could we then conclude that it wasn't Jesus?

The scientists have determined that the Shroud and the Sudarium had the same blood type on them. Type AB.

Some do, some don't. One has bolognese sauce running through what passes for blood vessels.

If Mary was a virgin then Jesus got half his DNA from God. Someone with blood type AB inherits the A from one parent and the B from another. Therefore God provided the genes for A or B.

No. The Son of God shed His blood to save the souls of those that believe in Him. That seems to leave you out, doesn't it?

Plasma extracted from type AB blood can be transfused to individuals of any blood group.

So you don't think Mary could have also had type AB blood?

How is that even remotely relevant?

Yes, but she could only pass on either the A or the B to her son. If Jesus was AB then the A or the B came from his dad as did his whole Y chromosome and one of each pair of chromosomes.
So if God is black then Jesus would have been 'colored'. If God is Chinese, then Jesus would have looked half Chinese.
If Jesus looked like most other Jews, then God is probably a Jew.

It is just as remotely relevant as this statement of yours:

"Therefore God is not type O."

Also not remotely relevant. 😏
