Yes, we should all count backward from the genealogy in the bible to arrive at a correct figure.
Being in a different time-zone, expect my answer to your other witless drivel tomorrow (my morning).

Is that the reply where you show how biblical dating is far more accurate than anything these lame-o prejudiced 'scientists' can come up with these days? Can't hardly wait, Elmo.

Okay Hal, thanks for that post. Intelligent, reasonable, and respectable.
See, here's the thing. This is what I think happened. Some intelligence or being that we rightly call God was motivated by something - boredom, curiousity, whatever - to create our universe. (I don't want to get off into the whole multiverse thing, that discussion is a bo ...[text shortened]... f rules. So I'm going to stick with agreeing with the u-word.
Thanks for an intelligent post.
I think you are well justified in your views as they reflect pretty much those of mainstream science... If that is what you are comfortable with...then fair enough. As I admitted before, mine stray quite a bit from what you would call "mainstream", but they are by no means unscientific (I think). I attempt (to the best of my ability) to match current scientific observations to my belief in God, and when challenged by the likes of sonhouse will attempt to justify them. It is not my intention to force anybody to my view, because I admit it is extreme.
Thanks for the quantum mechanics update. Its fascinating that whether one looks at the universe from a stellar perspective or quantum mechanics, there seems to be no lack of intricate detail and should I dare to add, design.
Cheers,
Hal

The rate of radiocarbon decay actually does change over time, and it's not a matter of the laws of physics changing. Radiocarbon depopulation follows a natural log function (amazing how often that thing comes up) where the rate of "decay" decelerates over time - the rate slows as the concentration approaches zero.
Of course you're right. What I should've said was that I don't expect the half-life to change over time.
Cheers,

RE: miscreantsThose words describe the young earthers quite well; they even describe me when I was 22 and a young earther. Interestingly, those who actually read what their bibles say about sin, instead of using the bible only as a geology textbook, will probably agree.

Wow, learned a new word... although I don't think you really understand it. Unless you're to back up that people who claim the earth is "8,000 year old" are depraved, degenerate, neferious, unhealthy, rotten or putrid, I think you should recant you villainous statement.
