You remind me exactly of the first people to look through Galilee's telescope where he clearly saw double stars and they said there was a flaw in the optics, even though there were clearly other stars that were singlets.

They refused to believe there could be such a thing as two stars near each other.

But they had the excuse of being hundreds of years in the past where all that was new. You have no such excuse.
