Religion is the number 1 fundamental cause of the current Middle East crisis and therefore the reason thousands are suffering and dying.
It is a deep division spanning millennia which grew into a mutual hatred based on the belief that one group has the truth and the other doesn’t, and it will never go away.
Religion; the fundamental belief … that your belief is right and the other person’s is wrong.
@divegeester saidAlmost all religions believe in this 'Im right, you are wrong' business, but it is only Islam that promotes hatred and death to infidels. If Islam disappears, then Jews, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists and others will live in peace.

"All who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, were to be put to death, whether small or great, man or woman."
@divegeester saidThe Mid-East crisis is more political than religious.

Zionism was popularized (not invented) by Theodor Herzl, An American Jew who wasn't religious and didn't even speak Hebrew.
The holy sites being disputed have more to do with legal, historical and ethical precedent rather than theology. The Israeli government is not concerned with ancient Hebrew texts when enacting policies related Palestinian land.
Don't get me wrong, religion does play a significant part. But the crux of the issue is more political than anything else.

@Rajk999 saidThat was part of a covenant with God that they'd kill non-believers. So take it up with your god.
That is a history of the Jews. Learn to read and understand.
Furthermore: the Old Testament is relevant to practicing Jews. They don't acknowledge the New Testament or the deity of Jesus. So it's more than mere "history" in Judaism.

@vivify saidIt’s more political now for Israel, and somewhat for the Arabs; but the origin of the conflict is rooted in religion.

@vivify saidThe Jewish people are not sworn to kill all infidels; the main Islamic countries in the Middle East are.

@divegeester saidObviously false.

Why aren't Muslims constantly killing westerners if that were true?
Why is Turkey part of NATO then? Why are they allies with the West instead of plotting their death?
Why do both Russia and the U.S. have embassies in Indonesia? Or Saudi Arabia?
This is incomprehensible ignorance from you.
@vivify saidI’m talking about the Middle East, not Chingford high street.
Obviously false.

@divegeester saidThen that makes even less sense. All the countries in the Middle East or Muslim except Israel.

What infidels are they "sworn" to kill when most of them are surrounded by other Muslims?
Incomprehensible ignorance.

@vivify saidWrong. King Asa had a covenant with God. This is not a general instruction to kill infidels. Proof of that is that you dont see Jews going around killing or persecuting atheists or unbelievers. The only people who do that are Muslims. All over North Africa people are being starved and persecuted for not accepting Islam.

@vivify saidAre you really that dumb? In Afganistan, Sudan and Yemen non-muslims are being persecuted by a government based on Islamic law.
Obviously false.
