It's ironic that you don't accept Jesus' explicit words preferring an interpretation by someone else, but then claim Jesus is "your personal savior". 🙄
If you're going to rely on other people's words in the Bible, did you ever consider reading and quoting the Book of James?

The underlying doctrinal difference we are discussing is whether "good works" as defined by Jesus in Matthew 25 is essential for salvation or not. The fundamental "Christians" of RBHILL's stripe believe that your mere assertion of belief in Jesus is sufficient basing this on various quotes from the Pauline chapters of the New Testament. Luke 10:
18: And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
19: And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.
20: Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.
21: And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.
22: Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
23: And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.
Luke 18
25: And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
26: He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
27: And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
28: And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
29: But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?
30: And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
31: And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
32: And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
33: But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
34: And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35: And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
36: Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?
37: And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

Aren't you always quoting some verse in Romans that says "all Men have sinned"? But here it says "no one who is born of God sins"! Which is it?
Originally posted by no1marauderSo who do you suppose interpreted Christ's message in the gospels?
Really? Heaven and Earth passed away?? I must have missed that on FoxNews.
The Epistles are interpretations by men of Christ's message. As such, they cannot be as meaningful as Christ's own words. The fact that Paul and others claim to be speaking with as much authority as Jesus doesn't prove they are.

No .. I am not saying that the rest of the Bible is unimportant or irrelevant. I beleive the entire Bible but I believe in placing a bit more importance on Christ's teachings. He is the judge and he laid down the rules. He also said very clearly to follow Him. Paul and the other apostles said certain things but the interpretation of their teachings cannot and should not contradict what Christ clearly said.
Well it sure seems like you and no 1 are doing just that. You place the gospels above all else. They sell little bibles that only have the gospels, why not just read that?

I don't believe any of the bible contradicts anywhere. Only when you pick and choose what suits you.
You and no1 don't seem to believe demons exist. I guess these verses were mistranslated...
Matt 9:33
33 And when the demon was cast out, the mute spoke. And the multitudes marveled, saying, "It was never seen like this in Israel!"
(NKJ)
Mark 7:29
29 Then He said to her, "For this saying go your way; the demon has gone out of your daughter."
(NKJ)
And I suppose this is a typo....
Mark 16:17
17 "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;
(NKJ)

Do you really think being a Bible scholar and reading the Bible over and over is any virtue and will get you eternal life? You are free to do that if you are so inclined but it is no substitute for doing what Christ says to do in Matt 25. Remember Christ condemn the scholars of His time is the strongest language.
Remember Phillip preached to the eunuch ? In the space of what must have been a couple of hrs at most. Do you think he had a full grasp of the entire Bible ?
As for demons and devils ... thats a whole other story. We can do that on a separate thread later on.

It doesn't say God doesn't look at your sin, it says no one born of God sins. See the difference??
So in saying this if God is for me who can be against me? I would say no one.
when you die if you are saved God whats to see Jesus in you. It is Jesus that saves you not yourself.

RBHill, are you a preacher ? Do you teach people about the Bible ? I suggest you be careful. There is a special punnishment for those who mislead the innocent.
