@kellyjay saidCop out.
Well, it is between you and God, not me. Have at it; where you end up, you end up.
Your thinly veiled threats of divine judgment by your monsterous version of God have no impact on me KellyJay. They are just the last salvo of the desperate religionist.
This post by you underlines my assertion in the OP, I.e. there is NOTHING in the Bible, no evidence anywhere that God will punish me for using discernment when deciding which scriptures are literal or not. Nothing… no evidence to support your disgraceful barbs anywhere.
And yet YOU decide to post this threat at me without any mandate from scripture, and therefore no authority from God. You should be ashamed of yourself.
@divegeester saidIt isn't my Word you are twisting to suit you.

@divegeester saidDeuteronomy 4:2
Oh that’s right, I’d forgotten that you don’t speak for yourself, like sonship, your arguments aren’t actually your arguments, they are are the words of Jesus.
Right. Thanks.
You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you.
Ecclesiastes 3:14
I perceived that whatever God does endures forever; nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it. God has done it, so that people fear before him.
Galatians 3:10
For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.”
Revelation 22
I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.
It isn't my word you are twisting to suit you.
@kellyjay saidLet’s take each of these one at a time:
Deuteronomy 4:2
You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you.
Ecclesiastes 3:14

Deuteronomy 4:2

Tut tut, I thought you liked scripture to be taken in context KellyJay. What is god talking about here? The OT law, not the contemporary collection of books which is today called “the bible”. Furthermore, do YOU keep the law? No you don’t.
Ecclesiastes 3:14
I perceived that whatever God does endures forever; nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it. God has done it, so that people fear before him.
Again context KellyJay; this is Solomon (is it?) musing over the vagaries of the passing of time and the futility of work and effort but the work and deeds which god does a permanent, such as salvation etc. it’s nothing to do with the contemporary collection of ancient manuscripts we today call the bible.
Galatians 3:10
For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.”
Again context. Goodness me KellyJay!!
This is Paul explaining that those who live by the law are cursed. The book of the law is NOT the collection of ancient manuscripts we today call the bible. It’s the OT law given to Moses!
Revelation 22
I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.
Ok so this is a close one. Close in that at least goes some way to supporting your argument. HOWEVER it is John writing and talking about his visions as documented in the book called The Revelation of Jesus Christ, so in terms eternal suffering the writer is underlining and indemnifying his own work.
The scripture you quote is NOT referring to the collection of ancient manuscripts which today we call the bible.
It isn't my word you are twisting to suit you.
So actually it is YOU who are twisting the bible to support your own premise.
@divegeester saidYou will find God takes His Word seriously changing it to suit your morality is never acceptable. Dance around that any way you like.

@kellyjay saidThen you should know better than to post a bunch of scriptures which you know to mean something other than what you are inferring they mean. As you just did above.

KellyJay you will not find documented evidence in the Bible, or elsewhere that it is entirely accurate or cannot be to some extent at least, cherry picked. As much as this irritates you, it simply isn’t there.
Man has developed this aura of it being this complete, inerrant, entirely accurate, entirely literal piece of work, when in fact there is NO objective evidence to support this. All we have is a subjective experience of the word working in our own lives.

@divegeester saidYou complain about altering scripture as you admit doing it by using your personal opinion to pick out what you like and dislike. You will have no excuse.

@kellyjay saidI’m not complaining about altering scripture, I’m highlight your casual hypocrisy by using scripture out of context when all you do is appeal to context when your more unwholesome beliefs are under scrutiny.

@divegeester saidThere was nothing wrong about what I said all I talked about was how God doesn’t like us misrepresenting His words. No matter who, what, when, and where it’s done.

You freely admit making it fit your moral compass. Our hearts are deceitfully wicked and you are using yours to judge scripture,

@kellyjay saidI pointed out in detail how you were misrepresenting God’s word in order to suit your own forum agenda. You should be ashamed of your casual hypocrisy KellyJay.

@divegeester saidYes, adding to something or taking away from God's Word is forbidden, dive. You think you found a loop, do you?
5th post down on this page KellyJay.
@divegeester saidWhen you leave portions of scriptures out, you are creating something deceitful, twisting the truth. You only pointed out that you have no idea what scripture is; in Christ, we are free from the Law, but it wasn't done away with only fulfilled; the Word of God is the Law no different than anything else that Lord says. The points that each of those passages show us that God doesn't permit His Word to be altered. Twisting the Word to sound good, so the crowds may find you acceptable, is a cursed thing to do; it always was, is, and will be.

Jeremiah 14:14
And the Lord said to me: “The prophets are prophesying lies in my name. I did not send them, nor did I command them or speak to them. They are prophesying to you a lying vision, worthless divination, and the deceit of their own minds.
