On a perhaps relevant tangent, assuming most of the stories about Jesus in the NT are based on real events, most people He encountered might have received only one of His lessons their entire lives.
The Gentiles especially would not have had the Torah, the Nevi'im, and the Ketuvim in their heads, or any of the New Testament -- whether orally or through literacy and access to the texts.
To have received one lesson or heard one parable from Jesus in one's lifetime -- and perhaps to have been changed by that one event -- is quite a different matter from literate people with Bible databases finding just the right passage to support their point of view.
@kellyjay saidYou are using the bible to prove that you have to study the bible. The bible you have now is not the bible when that comment was made. The comment makes a specific point about why one needs to study the bible and you have missed it by a mile.
You can guess that it wouldn't mean anything, and you didn't answer my question either. Are you suggesting the New Testament, including the gospels are not scriptures as well?
@kevin-eleven saidTrue enough. Though I might be tempted to argue a couple of points.

@rajk999 saidIs there anyone else here that can explain what's wrong with the post above?

I grow weary.
@rajk999 saidI'm only doing one thing for the third time now: asking you if the NT is scriptures; this includes the gospels.

@kevin-eleven saidI was going to say something to that effect.
I suspect that your natal chart might have some indications that you have a tendency to flirt with disaster. 😉
There has been a few here over the years I couldn't come close to contending with. I tried and got beat up pretty good.
@josephw saidHave you considered "handing it over to God to deal with" or writing down the issue and putting it into a dedicated "God box"?
I wish I had your patience. ☹️
Also, have you asked God for greater patience?
@kellyjay saidI asked you questions of a similar nature and you refused to answer. Yes the NT is part of the scripture but it was not part of the bible of the Apostles. There are books removed from the bible that the Aposltes used. Are you concerned about that?
I'm only doing one thing for the third time now: asking you if the NT is scriptures; this includes the gospels.
The point is that you assume that God's word is the bible you have now when the truth is that this book has been manipulated by man, not by God.
@josephw saidIt's mostly a sarcastic clown show in this forum (from my POV), although there do seem to be a few sincere practitioners of Christianity, whose presence I do appreciate and whose absences I understand.

@kevin-eleven saidAll of the above.

Thing is I like fighting too much. I think it's in my DNA, or something. Like when one is toe to toe with an opponent and looking directly in his eyes down into his soul.
There's no faking it then.
@josephw saidP.S. -- My post was the complete truth on this topic. There is nothing you could add. 😉
True enough. Though I might be tempted to argue a couple of points.
@josephw saidYou sound scarily intense. And here I thought I had turned out more angry and combative than my younger self would have expected.
All of the above.

But when you do stand toe to toe with an opponent, do you end up rubbing noses or playing toesies and complimenting each other's flip flops?
(Not trying to hook up -- just wondering.)
@kevin-eleven saidYou're difficult to read, except when you're speaking my language. 🙂
