It is possible to know, or at least try to figure out the approx time period like the year that Jesus is likely to return. If Jesus or God did not want people predicting His return then the passages in the bible would not exist. Most of the writings of the Prophets and Revelation is loaded with prophecies which if studied [and the bible says to study it], can lead to reasonable predictions.
Jesus cautioned his disciples against trying to predict this event. That's good enough for me.
Off the top of my head here are some:
- the Jews return to their homeland
- Mt Sinai will be split in two
- Euphrates River will dry up
The purpose in God telling people these things is for them to change their life and keep the commandments. The JWs have the wrong approach which is to use their false predictions to increase their membership, and to claim they are Gods chosen people. This is their undoing and will in the end lead to their damnation. They are wilfully fooling guillible people.
