how do we know there are no women in heaven? there was silence for half an hour!
(Revelation 8:1) . . .And when he opened the seventh seal, a silence occurred in
heaven for about a half hour. . .

angels in heaven during that time. Why was heaven silent during this time?
Would the angels stop singing their praises to God and remain silent? Could
heaven be vacant during that time? What is the real meaning of this silence?

Are you guys for real?
I mean I know thats what it says in the "good book" , but do you really believe that?
Remember "heaven" is supposed to representative of a higher dimension where there is no time as we know it. Or do you question that as well?

At a church I once attended, the minister actually used that line in a sermon.

Dont know about the rest of your post but that bit that says ,"unless of course you are willing to state that killing each other is a loving act. ", is a very good point.
I can guess the sort of arguments that other (christians) may put up here to justify war, such as it would be revenge, but imo, there is never any justification for war, (not defend ...[text shortened]... his person their due "love" (reward?) in their due time. (Patience,patience...)
conflict like the previous world wars in our life time for our integrity to be tested in this
way, but there are many witnesses and other conscientious objectors who have, for
many countries have conscription and the young people face jail terms rather than
compromise. worlds just such a sick place man, i mean it, its just soo messed up, one

really feel apprehensive about the future for my kids.

I busted my belly at his serious tone, it was funnier than the lame joke.

So you think that you will meet christ when you die?
Is there even a remote possibility that you may be wrong?
Certainly I could be wrong, but I believe I am right at least for the most part.
Yes I believe sometime after my death I will face Jesus, or some form of God and be judged accordingly.
This belief in final judgement is not just Christian BTW. The ancient Egyptians e.g. believed Anubis would weigh your soul against a feather. I think the soul gets heavier with misdeeds in that instance.
Originally posted by ChessPraxisWhy should we want to believe that God is so ready to judge and punish? If God exists, then surely he knows that human beings make human mistakes. Most of us try to do our best most of the time - do we have to feel guilt and remorse, does that make us better individuals and does that make our lives better?

No, seriously, thanks dude.
I also worry about the sort of world my kids will grow up in, but I have faith that things will improve-even if there needs to be some "cleansing" .
After all, it will be our kids shaping the world after us old farts die out. I want to do the best for them that I possibly can and try to leave them with as much positive knowledge as possible. I will leave them to make up their own minds about religion (I think this is a very important point). As for the rest, all I can do is try to educate them (not indoctrinate) as best as I can.
Hopefully they will change the world for the better.
As you know, change can happen relatively quickly, if we let it
