But more seriously here is something to ponder over; of the billions of prayers going up for each of the teams, who’s prayers do you think God will respond to?
If he responds to prayers from supporters of more than one team would that be disingenuous?
If he goes by “the prayers of a righteous man” ( ...[text shortened]... ” level?
And what about the prayers of the “righteous” who support other teams?
Thoughts?
Righteous men do not pray about a sports team.

Why don’t you take a day off from being a supercilious pious prick and just pause to reflect that this is a discussion forum and no one has to conform to your expectations.
NOW you're being ironic.

If you understood Romans 12:2 you wouldn't ask that question.
Who were they playing?

Obviously, God supports England, it is, therefore, prudent for the righteous to do likewise.

With the bible being written in English I think it only
fair to say that god supports an English speaking team.
btw: Does anyone remember the post about a Heaven XI years ago.

No. It cures people from being stupid, and from mocking God with meaningless questions about praying for games in a forum about spiritual matters.
Get the cure, or lose the game.
Oh, wait...

Wait, do people bet on the point spread in soccer? I mean, there's so rarely much of one.

Any comments on the OP?
Millions, possibly billions of prayers will go up during the World Cup so these are valid and relevant questions.

Why not pray for no suicides?

How would you know?
I would never begrudge a truly righteous man to lay a bet
Hey, he'll prolly win and share it with friends and family . Where's the problem ?

None of them.
Righteous men do not pray about a sports team.
