Cosby should be voted the MVP of that game. If it wasn't for him, Texas loses this game. He looked like a man among boys. Well, if you think about it, he pretty much was.
You figure Quan was that much larger or faster than the kids? They gave the Heisman to Chris Weinke who was just as old. There are many others in similar situations. Never heard you mention him before now. At least he kept his nose clean and wasn't taking payoffs for work he didn't do like certain OU players have been known to do.
Originally posted by shortcircuitNo, OSU scored their ONLY two touch downs without Wells. Imagine what they could have done with him.
BULL!! Wells got his bell rung in the 3rd quarter. He was running at full speed in the first half and kept OSU in the game by himself. OSU gets their only TD on a razzle dazzle with a push off by Prior that wasn't called. Face it, Texas nutted up and did what it took to win and OSU pulled another disappearing act in the Bowls.
Originally posted by whodeyThey had him the entire first half when you said he didn't do anything. The best player on OSU's offensive side of the ball was Robiskie. The catch he laid out on to catch was spectacular because he was well covered. Prior doesn't throw well, perhaps he will learn how to throw, but the senior QB was the better QB for passing, but Prior was the better runner.

Originally posted by shortcircuitI will put it another way, I have ONLY seen three teams dominate OSU. The three are Florida, LSU, and USC. None of them have come from the Big 12. In fact, the last three recent meetings between Texas and OSU have been close. Granted, OSU lost the first and last meeting, but in those games Texas had to come back in the closing seconds to beat them. All in all I would say that the Big 12 is on par with the Big 10.

Lastly, who has OSU played from the Big 12? They have played Texas 3 times. We beat OSU 2 out of 3 as you said. What is their record against the other teams they have played?
I sit here stunned that any Big 12 fan can brag about Texas' lousy performance. A 10 point favorite over a team that has choked away bowl games for years, the Longhorns had to squeak out a win in the final seconds. This is the same OSU team that didn't belong on the field with USC.
I expect Texas will be punished in the polls for this unimpressive game. They should fall to, at most, 4th.
Originally posted by no1marauderIt is kind of cool isn't it? We can play poorly and still win the game. Imagine if we played the way we are capable of playing? Sort of like Alabama against Florida and against Utah. Perhaps you didn't watch the game to see OSU crawl back into it in the 4th quarter only to get turned away? It doesn't matter though, our outcome was better than Alabama's, better than OSU's, better than Penn State's, better than Texas Tech's...shall I go on? I won't make excuses to you or anyone else other than to say they got the job done and played down to the level of their competition....it happens.

Originally posted by shortcircuitTo me, it supports what I've been saying all along; the elite teams in the Big 12 were overrated. That you had to rally against Ohio State made it a better game than the Rose or Sugar bowls, but it doesn't make your team a better team than USC or Utah.

God we need a playoff (though Texas wouldn't have made it into the MCS).
Originally posted by shortcircuitI only speak in Tressel years. I don't see how it is productive to go back further because college football has changed much since that time. So I guess we are left with only Texas to rate the Big 12, eh?

Originally posted by no1marauderI got news for ya, there is a short list of teams that DO belong on the field with USC. The only ones I can think of are Florida, Utah........that's about it. 😛

The reality of the matter is, that there are such gaps between the top elite and the rest of college football that it kinda takes the fun out of watching the "big games" like the NCG and the Rose Bowl. To fix things, however, a quick fix might be to pair USC with the best in the SEC for the Rose Bowl every year instead of the Big 10.
Originally posted by whodeyIt's hard to argue that the Big 10 is equal to the Big 12 this year, whodey; the BIg 12 won all three bowl games between the conferences.

Originally posted by whodeyI tend to agree, but with so many surprises in the bowls this year, I guess I'll have to see if the BCS Championship Game turns out as I expect.

Originally posted by no1marauderPerhaps the Big 12 is a little better this year, but by in large I think they belong on the same field as opposed to USC/Florida as was demonstrated last night.
