I think Singletary was a little more adept at reading offenses then Lewis is. That's the only reason I would give him the nod.
as for the RB, one of your selections has to be a bruiser that can hit the middle...might I suggest the late Walter Payton?
Originally posted by Scotty70In that caseCsonka, Riggins and even Alstot would be a better choice. Payton was too much like Brown and less like these above named bruisers. Franco Harris is also a good bruiser or the "Bus". No argument about Darrel Green. Green on one side and Sanders the other would by really hard to do vetical passing game on and difficult for even shorter passes. No argument about Vinatieri although Morten Andersen is just s good. My punter would be Ray Guy. Special teams would have to include Tasker and such. Neither Lewis nor Singletary were as good as the Steelers' LB corps. Being scared of Singletary eyes was nothing like toothless Steeler LB Jack Lambert! I'd rather be looked at funny than looking across at a guy who looked more apt to decapiate than look at you intensely!

Easy! So many great, great players and other things to remember. I confess I just watched a special on NFL network about power runners! One could assemble a really great team, a fantasy one, for the ages!
Assembling a team for the ages is a topic that can be discussed forever....just picking a QB is hard enough.

Here's my list of top QB's:
By order of greatness
Montana
Unitas
Bart Starr
Sammy Baugh
Otto Graham
Tom Brady
Roger Staubach
Dan Marino
Steve Young
Bret Favre
Payton Manning

2) I can't believe anyone in his right mind would sincerely believe that Tom Brady is fit to hold Dan Marino's jock strap, let alone be ahead of him. Brady had one great year and a lot of good ones and a great defense that propelled him to 3 titles. Marino was the most accurate passer with the best release in the last 30 years.
Originally posted by sh76i agree. Dan Marino would be top 3 if I made a list, which I think i'll do after looking up a few of the names ive forgotten. Spoiler alert, Peyton's gonna be number one. Marino will probably be two.

Here's my top ten:
1. P. Manning
2. Marino - despite no rings, he has the arm strength of favre, the accuracy of manning. The only quality of Mannings that I think edges him past Marino is his ability to read defenses and make changes at the line of scrimmage. Really, this one could go either way, but I think that Peyton's ring and his intelligence at the line edges him into the number one spot.
3. Montana
4. Unitas
5. Steve Young/John Elway - couldn't decide!
6. Otto Graham
7. Staubach
8. Brees - This guy impresses me. In a league that practically demands tall quarterbacks, he excels at a mere 6' 0". He has propelled the 'Aints to the Super Bowl, something similar to if someone had put the Lions in the playoffs after the winless season. He is accurate, and takes care of the football. He has a lot of potential to move up on this list, and he could start by upsetting my Colts.
9.Brady - ugh, I'm not the biggest Brady fan. Never will be. Still, three rings and the first ever 16-0 regular season is hard to overlook, even with all the help he had on the defensive side of the ball.
I know there's probably a few greats I've left off of here. Bart Starr would have been my 11th best. Brett Favre, well, its not because I'm not a fan. Because I love to watch the guy play. Still, his history of throwing interceptions (2 game losing picks in his past 2 NFC championship appearances) prevents me from putting him on my list. Still, this is what I've got.

Originally posted by Scotty70That makes Kelly a 4X loser. He was really , really good, but greatness eluded him. Elway would be the same but he finally won two big ones and had those last minute heroics. Greatbigorangecountry places Manning 1st? Ahead of Bart Starr. You lose credibility when adoration borders on abject sycophancy. One ring might not even get Manning into the HOF! And one ring it is since he's not winning SB next week.

Originally posted by Big Orange CountryHardware, my boy, hardware. Terry Bradshaw deserves to be in a lot more than Manning, Favre et al. No other QB, excepting Montana carries so much hardware. The dude was much better than Manning ever dreams of being. No disrespect to Manning but he simply does not compare!
