How can you say Tressel is not the best coach in the Big Ten? After all, he has dominated as I said before. I suppose the closest to him is Joe Pa, but he has won the Big Ten more often that Joe Pa since he came to the Big Ten. How can you determine who is better by any other factor than wins and losses?
Originally posted by whodeyReal simple! Tressel has had the creme de la creme player-wise for the last ten seasons. MState's and Iowa's do more with less. I agree with the other poster regarding Rich Rdz. He has coached really well and should get Michigan back to a powerhouse. Tressel is stale and predictable. Too conservative. OSU has great traditions and is an awesome school. Notice how the other B10 schools don't seem to have the player controversies Tressel has had. The unmanly look does not help!

Originally posted by scacchipazzoSo Tressel gets the talent but is horrible at coaching? Who cares the formula so long as the winning continues. I say, "Just win baby!!".

Originally posted by whodeyState of Ohio is a perenially endless ppool of great talent. Ohioans are traditionally inclined to go there and Tressel mines the big ten talent effectively as well. There lies his real talent. This does not seem to extend to the field of play as evidenced by the NCAA chamionships embarrassments.
Are you suggesting that Tressel has access to a larger talent pool than say Penn State or Meat Chicken?
Originally posted by scacchipazzoThe funny thing is, is that OSU never went anywhere until Tressel walked onto the scene since the days of Woody Hays. So are you suggesting it only coincidence?

Originally posted by whodeyHe's no Woody Hayes. He's a good recruiter. The moms like the wimpy, knit vest look. They send their kids there without batting an eye. Come game time he calls ultra conservative games. He's no Bo either. He probably sells insurance really well or funeral plots. If you like him, fine. Your team and prerogative. I never cared for the man. He reminds too much of Leach at TxTech. Dart Vader comes to mind with the latter, yappy little lap dog with the former. 3rd and ten? No problem. Let's pass for three! Compare to D'Antonio at MSU. There's some big hairy cojones. Even in a painful loss he makes you think of a bandolero, not a funeral greeter. Rich Rdz is the same. He acts like this is a game of men not Chihuahuas. I don't deny the man has some talents, but think about it, transpose him over to the SEC and he'd be eaten alive the same way he was in those two back to back embarrassments champ games. Can you see Saban, or LSU's coach wimping out? Houston Nutt? Miss State's? Maybe he needs to grow whiskers!

I would say that John Cooper may have been a better recruiter. In fact, when Tressel won the NCG he was using Coopers boys. In fact, I think that more players went to the NFL under Cooper than under Tressel, yet it is only Tressel who has won a NCG and owned Meat Chicken and dominated the Big Ten.

Originally posted by whodeyI prefer less conervative play calling, within reason, and a slightly better attitude. No use in arguing about this. Tressel is what he is. D'Antonio is my kind of coach. No suave, debonnaire crap on the sidelines! Reminds me of Jimmy Johnson!
