100 yard field. You have 4 (strategically 3) attempts (plays/downs) to get 10 yards. If you get 10 yards with 4 (typically 3 - not usual to go for 4th) plays, you get a new set of "downs" - you have another 4 plays to get 10 yards.

By the way, all, this guy in the last post, he's one who would detract you from the Rams. There's times when you want to ignore him, though, I have to say, that last comment he madee is acceptable. The only thing to appreciate from him is his service in the US army - which is alot to appreciate. But for some reason he commits nowhere near as much dignity in his mind in sports.

Sometimes I get bored and play around with Google Maps. Here's a photo taken during a football game; they're actually lined up for a play.
